I was wondering how many of you went from not approaching or getting any girls at all to getting girls. It doesn't have to be a drastic change, but I just want some hope that's it's possible to improve. I don't consider myself to be unattractive, but I am pretty awkward and socially anxious by nature with people that I don't really know that well. It stems from me having a really odd sense of humor and personality that might seem weird to most girls so I try and hide it which has turned me into a boring person.

I've recently went on a date with a girl that I met through a friend and it went pretty good, but my anxiety got the best of me and I self sabotaged myself by not inviting her out on another date. This seems to be a pretty reoccurring theme with me. Once a girl starts to like me I get even more awkward and stop talking with them. It sucks because I know most guys would be dying to want to be in that type of situation.

I'm still pretty young, by the way. I turn 20 in a couple days. My biggest worry is that nothing will change and I'll look back at myself in 10 years and wonder where my 20s went. I try and improve myself in all aspects of life except for approaching girls. I go to the gym 3 days a week (I started 2 months ago) and I try to read books and improve myself overall.

I have diagnosed social anxiety, but sometimes I think it might be some form of asperger's or something. It's a pretty stupid worry because I feel like my doctor or family would have said something by now if I did have it.

TL;DR: Has any former awkward/socially anxious people improved themselves enough to get any girls? I need some type of hope that I'll actually be able to improve myself. I've been trying for the past couple years and I feel I haven't made much progress.
