Went to the mall this morning to buy a Samsung Galaxy S10+, and got there 5min before the mall opened.

As I was waiting outside, saw a cute redhead girl wearing a Samsung tshirt... perfect opportunity to open.

  • Hey, do you work at Samsung? That's where I'm going. How do I get to the store?

"Oh.. actually I'm a consultant for them. But just go here and here (gave me the directions)"

  • Awesome. I'm here to buy the Galaxy s10, maybe you can tell me your secret discount code.

"Hahaha believe it or not, they only give me discounts for laptops and wearables, not for smartphones!"

  • That sucks. You were almost convincing me to become a Samsung consultant, but now you lost me.

"Hahaha well I can go to the store with you and tell them to give you a special discount!"

(We went to the store, she was giving me plenty of IOIs such as laughing at everything I said and positioning herself closer to me.)

When we arrived there, right before she introduced me to the sales girl (also cute), I said:

  • Hi, I'm Bruno Samsung, the son of Samsung's CEO, John Samsung, and this young lady is here to help me buy a phone.

They both laughed HARD, lots of IOIs.

In the end of the day the consultant convinced the sales girl to buy back my old Galaxy S7 edge for $350 AND add a 5% discount on top, so the final price for the S10+ was ridiculously cheap.

Consultant girl said she needed to visit other stores that sell Samsung products and invited me to come along, she introduced me to everyone and when I was about to leave she looked at me with puppy eyes waiting for me to ask for her number.

The whole pickup was incredibly natural and fun, as it should be. I'll list a few key concepts about why this worked so well:

  1. I was very playful from the start.

  2. I didn't lean in or ask too many questions, just kept a strong body language, made statements, used the absurd as humor, and just acted like I'm a happy guy with a great life.

  3. Kept strong eye contact, and kino from the start.

  4. Used a situational opener. Had she felt like I was trying to pick her up, the whole thing would've been different. If you ask for her version of the story, she'll probably say I was just a funny and confident guy and we met by accident because I just asked for directions. Situational/indirect openers create this sense of SERENDIPITY that girls love so much.

  5. I was well dressed. Not fancy, but stylish and well-fitting clothes with a few accessories. Never underestimate the power of style!

Nothing spectacular about this FR - it's the kind of interaction that happens multiple times a day, every day, for guys who commit to gaming.
