Hey all. Just a mini rant here.

Not just in dating, but in life, I have been out of my elements for a while. I fell into a deep rut about a year after I graduated university. I stopped enjoying things I used to love doing, fell into a deep depression (I went through it during university as well), lost weight, stopped training, stopped making music. Just trying my best with my writing jobs and grad school.

To cut the story short, I am now on my way to better things, and see if my plans go well.

Anyway, out of the blue, I made accounts on some dating apps a few days ago because I was looking for someone to join me for lunch. I did pretty ok in college, but already out of the dating pool when these apps became the new thing. So this was all new for me, I'm more of a "meet in real life, get number" kind of guy who hates texting.

Obviously it was just another "hell, why not" kind of thing, but I managed to get a bunch of pointless likes. Then one girl shot me first text.

Didn't think much of it first, if experience has taught me anything, it's to never put much into anything especially online. But after about a day of small chats, I asked her out for coffee. Now here's the important part, at this point I was leaving this city very soon in the next 3 days. Somehow, she said yes.

Felt a little good, and curious to see how this was going to go. I may have been out for a couple of years, but I still know not to put much hope, and not get invested. I learned from watching others doing this when I was university (people here are a little more "invested too early", "serious" and "attached").

We set it up (on Wednesday which is my last day in the city, which is today), and I left her alone for a few days as I went and meet my friends and contacts and had some fun.

At the same time, I felt like I need an outfit for the date. So I went, forgot my real intention and ended up updating my wardrobe. Tailored my outfits, bought new shoes, just getting into the groove and enjoying iy. Went back to learning fashion, and everything I left behind while I was in a rut. I rediscovered the spark.

Came today, and I got a text saying she had an impromptu meeting.

Felt a bit bummed out, but I replied, "It's cool. Been a busy day huh? How about we go for a late supper and you can vent all about it. :) If you're still up to it, let me know."

That's the best response I could use, for someone who's been out of it for a while, maybe it's not too bad, I thought to myself.

Still no reply from her, and I'm not really expecting any more response honestly, but I'm thankful that she flaked.

I know I'm already on my way out of the rut, but she also had a small role in making me rediscover my spark. So thanks for that, flaky girl.

Edit: Cheers mates
