It’s a sunny Sunday afternoon - perfect time to do some daygame.

Two visitors

Went for a walk around campus and spotted two girls sitting in the grass. Both were very attractive, so I opened indirectly “hey, enjoying the sun?”

I noticed one of them had orange-tinted glasses so I commented on them. She said they were Ray-Bans, and I teased her about them being real and not fake.

It seemed like their bitch shields were up, so I introduced myself. Ray-Bans didn’t want to shake my hand, but her friend did.

Over the course of the conversation, I learned that they were not students but in fact visitors and both had boyfriends - and visiting a boyfriend was the reason for their visit.

As my first set, I didn’t want to eject right away because I also want to improve my conversation ability with strangers in general. So I sat down and just had a genuine conversation to get to know the both of them. I ended up giving them recommendations for some cool places to check out in the area before they had to leave.

Takeaways: maintain frame even if girl seems bitchy and closed off on the open. As I continued to express myself in a grounded, non-reactive manner, they also relaxed and became more receptive. Laughter helps too. Just because a set doesn’t result in a close doesn’t mean it isn’t good in some way for me or for the other party. I left them better than I found them.

Why won’t she stop walking

I continued on my walking path towards the main center of campus. I spotted a cute girl coming my way with a banging body and showing it all off with summery attire. I hesitated on my open because there were a couple other people walking nearby, and ended up opening her too close.

I opened directly with “hey, excuse me. One second. Excuse me. I just thought you were cute and wanted to say hi.” I got her attention with the opener but she didn’t stop walking. I made a last ditch effort as she was walking away by asking her name and extending my hand. She shook my hand and we made introductions, but she kept walking. I asked her if she was in a rush, she said she was heading to Starbucks to do work. But it was a Sunday, so no way it was urgent.

I said, “I’ll walk with you for a sec, I’m headed that way.”

I’m a little distraught but I end up grounding myself enough that I could notice she had a cool necklace on so I complimented that, and we started a free-flowing conversation off that.

As we got to the parking lot where I left my car, I told her we would part ways but that I would love to grab a drink sometime. She said “maybe” so I instigated a bit more by asking if she was in a serious relationship, to which she laughed and said “no, are you?” “Nah, or else that would make things too complicated.” Number closed and texted her my name. She did respond “Hey!” to that but did not respond to my second text which attempted to soft-close on a date.

Takeaways: just because she doesn’t stop doesn’t mean it’s over. There was probably a better way to frame it so that it didn’t seem like I would creepily follow her forever - I should have explicated that I needed to go in the same direction to grab my stuff from my car, or introduced a time constraint. I wonder what I could have done to get her to stop - I believe that would have solidified the number more.

Sitting by the window, talking to a wall

Grabbed my backpack and headed into a coffeeshop to do some actual work.

Barista messed up the order of the guy in front of me and she ended up making a free coffee. Joked around with her and the other customer, kept me in a lighthearted mood and maintained social flow state.

Noticed a cute girl in a dress sitting alone by the window. “Hey, can I sit here? Better for people watching.” Asked her what she was working on, and we transitioned into talking a little bit about her area of study. But her responses were very terse, and she wasn’t asking me any questions at all. I threw in a slight tease and she did not respond to it at all, so I ended up focusing on my work.

There was a cute girl with her mom outside, but I was too pussy to approach.

Left the coffeeshop once I finished my work and went back to campus to see if there were more prospects.

Wait, I know you

Saw a cute girl sitting on the grass writing, I said “Hey!” in a loud and familiar tone. I’ve been trying this opener lately because it gets the girl’s attention and usually results in some level of intrigue because their brain is trying to figure out if they know me. It also saved my ass in this situation because once the girl looked up at me and took off her sunglasses, I realized I had previously approached her in the gym.

At the time, I had number closed her, but she never responded.

I knew the interaction wasn’t going to go anywhere since she had ghosted me in the past, but while we continued to converse it seemed like she was showing me a level of interest besides just being friendly. However, she mentioned that she was going on a date that evening with a guy she had been seeing for a few weeks, so I didn’t push for anything. She was insanely attractive and I was stumbling over my words a little bit.

Bid her a good day and continued on.

Takeaway: a non-gamey opener with familiarity can be all that you need. It helps in situations where I might accidentally approach the same girl twice.

Pretending to be a student

Saw a girl reading on the grass. “Hey! I… don’t know you, but I just thought you looked cute and I wanted to say hi.” Not sure why I did the “I don’t know you part” - I just blurted it out without thinking. Maybe it was because I didn’t want to end up in the situation like last time where it was a girl I already approached.

I sat down and commented on her book, and then we got into conversation about her work which I found very interesting. I felt mixed signals from her, ranging from her body language being a bit fidgety, and also her not responding to or laughing at any of my teases and jokes. I stayed much longer in the conversation than I usually do for a typical cold approach -> number close. She told me that she wanted to get back to her book, and I went for a close. First time I’ve had a girl straight up tell me that she’s not interested, but that she appreciated the approach. I also appreciate direct honesty.

Took the hit to my ego and continued on.

Takeaway: good to slow down on the opener and take time to assess the situation before jumping straight into my statement of intent “hey you’re cute.” Don’t overstay the conversation, and make sure to give a time constraint so the girl doesn’t feel like she’s trapped with me.

Standard rejection

Saw a girl sitting down at a table by herself on her laptop. As I walked closer, I realized that she wasn’t attractive enough, but I was already close enough so I went for the open. She had a boyfriend, but I have gotten into a habit of not ejecting right away as a way to practice vibing and conversation skills.

Chatted for a little bit and I was able to connect with her over a variety of topics, and some slight teasing.

Went for a final loop around the street with shops and cafes because I wanted a walking target.

Memory loss

See a girl walking quite briskly on the other side of the street. I’m smashing the pedestrian signal request button but the light isn’t changing. Fuck, I only have seconds before she passes and it’s too late. I jaywalk over, make eye contact with her, and then front stop her. My opener was a simple “Hey!” She looks at me with a look of familiarity, and I am confused. I ask her if I know her, and she informs me that we had a similar encounter on the street the other day. I literally cannot remember even after she tells me her name. I let her go.

Only after walking two blocks did I realize that I had previously approached her in the same fashion two days ago, and she had rejected my attempt to number close because she was seeing someone.
