there are 2 basic biological sexes : male and female.

intersex (inter = between + sex) is an exception (1.7% of population) and has a broad range (supposedly around 40 known variations)

man, woman, boy, and girl are genders, just like lesbian, gay, bisexual, cisgender, transgender, etc.. are genders. these are social constructs, not sexes.

a transgendered woman is a woman, but is not a female.

a transgendered man is a man, but is not a male.

coz genders != sexes.

the problem is that most people keep conflating genders and sexes, without even realizing the distinction.

unpopular opinion : the intersex should not be treated as a subcategory for "trans" (intersex is sex, "trans" is gender)

people born as intersex should have an exclusive term for when they transition (ie : tran-SEXUAL, rather than trans-GENDER)

the reason for this is an example : if an intersex XY with swyer syndrome (born with female body parts), goes into surgery and transitions into a male, or an intersex XX male syndrome (born with male body parts) transitioning to female

in this case a tranSEXUAL man is both a man AND a male (has XY and male body parts)

in this case a tranSEXUAL woman is both a woman AND a female (has XX and female body parts)

(though in most other cases, this scenario may not adequately apply)

despite all that, most intersex can live healthy lives without requiring to "transition" to either male or female.

unpopular opinion 2 : the gendered brain neurosexism is a myth. there is no "male brain" or "female brain". so the basis for "gender dysphoria" is a misdiagnosis based on a shaky premise.

neuroscientist gina rippon has a good take on this subject :

"modern neuroscientists have identified no decisive, category-defining differences between the brains of men and women. In women’s brains, language-processing is not spread any more evenly across the hemispheres than it is in men’s. Brain size increases with body size, and certain features, such as the ratio of grey to white matter or the cross-sectional area of a nerve tract called the corpus callosum, scale slightly non-linearly with brain size. But these are differences in degree, not kind. As Rippon notes, they are not seen when we compare small-headed men to large-headed women, and have no relationship to differences in hobbies or take-home pay."

unpopular opinion 3 : transHUMANISM would turn gender and identity politics into a moot point.

transhumanism is the future of mankind.

once the technology to digitize human consciousness becomes available. people are no longer confined to the body, sex, race, species, etc.. that they are born with.

it would even allow humans to bypass age-related mortality or even sickness.

we won't even be limited to a singular body, and could possibly be able to simultaneously control multiple bodies remotely, the same way that a person can control their own fingers. (as long as they have enough processing power and bandwidth to do so.)

we're not even limited to inhabiting organic or human bodies. which means that a person can literally become an attack helicopter or a gundam or a bioengineered furry or an extraterrestrial xenomorph or whatever.

coz sentience IS sentience.

i'm waiting for more humans to reach a similar conclusion.

my response to some of the comments i received to the other post that get deleted before i could reply.

* gays, lesbians, etc.. are sexes not genders. : a gay is still biologically male, a lesbian is still biologically female. changing one's sexual orientation does not change one's biology.

* intersex is not treated as a subcategory for trans : some people do and they even consider the term transexual as derogatory, which is why i raised this point in the first place.

* transhumanism is brain rot : transhumanism is just a scifi speculation for now. i'm posing it like a thought experiment, since huge technological leaps often precede massive changes in society. and this topic revolves around "identity" tied to one's consciousness, rather than limited to one's "body"
