I haven't looked lately, but is it women saying things like women only have children because of pressure from men? If so, that completely goes against my lived experience.

My mom (RIP) was always dropping hints much harder about wanting to be a grandparent than my dad.

And for years, my wife would always say "I want a baby!" jokingly (but also not jokingly, according to her), while I was always apprehensive about the whole thing, only finally and slowly warming up to the whole thing when she unexpectedly got pregnant at the age of 41, after we'd been off any birth control methods for over two years with nothing happening, which had led me to believe that either or both of us were infertile.

Let me be clear that I adore my son, and I think he's the most perfect little boy I've ever seen, but it was definitely my wife's idea to have him before it was mine (and indeed, she wanted a boy from the start, while I wanted a girl so that she would enjoy female privilege, although I think my son has what it takes to not have a shitty life as a man).

In brief, I really don't understand my reproductive coercion is usually framed as something men do to women, when, based on my experience, women are much more intrinsically interested in having kids than men are.

Not sure if I got unlucky, but the first two comments I see on that sub are referring to pregnant women as "breeders" and saying how awful they are.

I think I'll steer clear of it tbh.

That sub is a toxic hell-hole. All these people justifying their hate for children and parents by spewing half-assed ‘reasons’ and complaining about people around them doing what all animals are programmed to do.

Why it’s a majority women is an interesting topic. I have heard from a few mental health discussions that anti-social, psychotic and sadistic women often target children. Kids are weak and not able to fight back, they trust women more easily and women are unlikely to be punished severely for their actions.

There are apparently some well known percentage of studies that say that nurses, teachers and daycare workers tend to have a measurable percentage of women who meet those criteria for those conditions and that access to children is a motivating factor in them going into those professions in the first place.

You extrapolate that out and realize that allot of this child-free nonsense are mentally unwell people dragging others into their nonsenses d making them mentally unwell and you can see there is a social aspect to all this.

There is also the chilling prospect of just how many of these women meet the threshold of criminal abuse or even could be serial offenders and never get caught because nobody takes their crimes or the possibility of their crimes seriously.

I mean, patriarchal beliefs as they were implemented in the west had baby making as a core trait for women. While society Is mostly not patriarchal anymore, the cultural effects of this system aré still present, and as such, if a woman were to reach the conclusión that they want to be childfree, they most likely have to consciously reject an idea that they have internalized since a very young age. For some this comes easily, and others need More radical theory to see it that way.

You'd think that sub would be a place where everyone could understand each other's desire to be childfree...but no, it's not even close. it's a sub for women, if a man posts that he's being pressured for children from society, family, spouse, it's "Shut up, you sound like an incel!"
