this is essentially a war of attrition. in that sense russia wins. they will eventually bleed ukraine dry. so its take a slow painful sliding decline .... if this is the course of action they want to continue. we americans don't understand what that's like as we have never been in that situation. in all wars we have either had the luxury of fighting on our home turf against a invading force that's manageable for us because they have weak supply lines and weak leadership. (for example revolutionary war and war of 1812) 50,000 british soldiers against 230,000 colonial forces. or war of 1812 35180 vs 48160. or in WW1/WW2 we had massive manpower /material advantages that losing was just not possible. The US struggled in korea as we couldn't make it a full blown war as it could've gone nuclear and also it was overseas same with vietnam overseas and with no clear objectives. but besides the point if the US was in ukraines shoes i don't know if americans would have the same feelings or thoughts.

Of course i do not know shit about reality of that but i feel like killing wouldnt be too big of a problem when it is socially accepted. Sure it would be traumatizing but the step to do the act wouldnt be too huge morally.

Nothing is wrong about avoiding conscription it would be kind of morally wrong to leave when having no children but as Ukraine gives no other optional service but the meatgrinder what are they supposed to do instead of leaving? Completely normal they should be much more supported by the west.

Again, prosthesis cost a lot. Gov provide funding for that, but quality is not the best. These two are also wealth and privileged.

I can confirm that. And as you expect, average Ukrainian man does not have $5-15k. So again, only privileged can do that.

My point here is that the whole "draft dodging" topic you see in this article represents only privileged men. Often, in very good health condition as they go to gym, pool, more often visit dentist, etc. If everything was fair, these would go to frontline, instead of poorer men with worse health, and it would have better outcomes.

Of cause society hates these men, but not like criminals, rather like you'd hate corrupt officials as they are part of the scheme. They were benefiting from our country, living their best lives, and now they want escape their obligations remaining assets and high standards of living, while those majority (currently more than 1 mil of men are in army of 8 mil men left) fulfil their citizen obligations whenever they want it or not. And no newspaper would ask how they feel, how they lived before invasion, or if they even got anything to return, like if you were from Mariupol, like me. Next year I will join army due to becoming eligible through age, while having asthma, because privileged men with good health represented in this article choose to dodge.
