Are men expected to have more agency, as a rule, in situations where they are in a sexually uncomfortable situation?

This would be hyperagency, it doesn't matter what thing you are doing or experiencing, as men (or even as boys), we are expected to always handle things by ourself and not rely on anyone else (this applying to the topic of sexual abuse against men/boys).

What is the origin of hyperagency? Since a conversation i had earlier has put me into the mindset of foragers vs. agrarianist.

i think agrarianism is what produces the concept of male hyperagency because in the foraging world, cooperation was possibly far more essential, most explicitly in big game hunting. The necessity for cooperation here would create different roles that naturally fit men's more inherent agentic patterns without overexaggerating maleness into hyperagency. The overexaggertion being what produces the social and psychic deficits in the male social/organic body.

By contrast, in the farming world, you have the potential to just do things by yourself or more prominently with your kids and wife (or male lover) and may be more incentivized to be more individualist as well. So male hyperagency becomes more emphasized for the father of the home.

EDIT: I think also, with the rise of industrialism, there is an even stronger restriction on men to be hyperagentic since it was encouraged for wives to not work, overloading an individual father into doing all the income earnings. Worsening men's psychic health.

Now fast forward this archaism into the present and here we are.

This is just an assumption by me, i'm not sure why hyperagency exist but it definetly sucks!

Yes, society views men as “in control” of anything that happens to them, while women are helpless victims.

Unfortunately, feminism still clings to this mindset and frames sexual assault as an exclusively women’s issue.

I've found a lot of situations where my ex's were sexually assaulted, if I was in her situation and reacted the way they reacted (froze up, or showed no sign of disliking what was happening) it would have been considered cheating not SA.

I know ppl do freeze up/can be scared, but at a certain point you need be an advocate for yourself.

In many of these situations I’d say it’s definitely more that women have almost no agency more than men have hyper-agency, but I’d say that’s the reverse of that

Men are expected to shut up and toil, this has been the motto of humanity for a long time. When men find themselves in a situation where they have no agency or power to resist suffering, they're just told to suck it up.

If a girl is aggressive sexually, its understood that the guy will have no problem resisting if he doesnt want to. If a guy has the same attitude and behavior, a lot of women would struggle to resist the same way. Even if the intent of both is harmless, and depending on whos on the receiving end, perhaps extremely attractive, materially one has a greater capacity for harm.

The small aggressive girl is at worst viewed as an angry chihuahua. I dont think its unfair for people to be aware of this. A super buff or huge guy would have to be more aware of his boys will be boys fucking around with his friends because he could really hurt them, especially if they are thin or short. But I do think its unfair to have a one size fit all view of this and lack any nuance.
