Over the years overtime has been a good part of my salary, my family and I had a pretty comfortable lifestyle. My employer recently cracked down on ot, resulting in going back to close to my base salary at 40hrs. Now in divorce and calculated child support my quality of life and sustainability will be virtually non existent. (mind you, averaging 3 yrs worth of ot at approximately 50-55+hrs a week going down to 40 or just above if lucky (this does not matter and hasn't had an affect on, or warranted, adjustment or recalculation) I pay support for 4 children from a previous marriage, and now will for another 4. Yes, it is a lot of fucking money going towards support. My stbx graciously waived alimony, she was a sahm for 10yrs. And I understand that the intended result is for the kids to have a lifestyle they've grown accustomed to.

I also take into consideration she gets full custody with modified visitation, half the proceeds of some land we sold, half the proceeds of the sale of the house (another story), a car, retirement account, inheritance money and investments. You know, marital assets. Sure, I get rid of her worthless ass but man does it piss me off to see her get the free money. She made out pretty well, all around.

My question- have any of you resigned because of significantly reduced earnings in terms of child support/alimony obligations? Quality of life, sustainability, drastic lifestyle changes, etc taking a huge hit, what's the point in killing yourself working just to make chump change anyways? Sounds like, and will be, a very shitty way to exist.

Anyone have any recommendations on how to ease the sting? My atty is absolutely no help....

Makes me fucking irate, worried, depressed. What a shit system.

And to think, all I had to do is be a guy and have been cheated on. That's it! I'm the big winner.
