Two weeks ago I drew a little diagram, a “dream catcher web” of the 3 things I want most to focus on, it said: “1. Peace. 2. Stability. 3. Retirement”. Writing your goals down, focusing, means you probably won’t achieve it. All 3 of these things mean my current, but Ex as of Monday, won’t, and can’t be part of what I want for my future. The last month I’ve spent weeks, hours, minutes, crying, frustrated, overwhelmed, pissed, sad, or just quietly humiliated. But 100% of my family and friends - and maybe more importantly - reading through hundreds of real-life accounts of men in d_m here, has made me realize that I am not alone, and these changes and partings are a natural part of life for millions. I’m finally over the shame and despondency (until tonight or tomorrow in my next post, and downturn 😅). ….and deep in my bones I accept, I have finally accepted, for me the hardest part was accepting, that I had to let this marriage and person go, as it was never going to change, get worse, no matter what I did. That has been what was easily the hardest. I wish you all, and myself, a much happier life eventually, and some day there will be peace, in the outside, as well as my inside.

Its a shattered dream. It's completely understandable to mourn it. I mourned it too. But the further I get away from her the more I realize how mentally and emotionally beat down I was. (recovering from it still) I wasn't myself. I walked on eggshells and sacrificed my and my children's wellbeing in vain attempts to please a woman for which there was ultimately NEVER enough. I'm a better father now. A better contributor at work. In better shape. Looking forward to the future with optimism for what lies ahead, though I don't know what that will be. As long as its me and my kids, I'm more than content. Monday? Congratulations. I'm about half way down the divorce road. (I hope and pray) Cheers to you and what tomorrow may bring you. Or more appropriately what you will make into your tomorrow. It's up to each of us.
