I can relate to upset fathers. Where I live there are 80% homeless men, yet there are support centers for homeless women. In this world you would like your kid to have a kickstart, and right now it means the kid should be a girl. I think these fathers ~~just grind for likes on social media~~ imagine how hard the life will be for the boy.

Gender reveals are dumb. They are always about mother just wanting to be seen, again. No dad cares about having a big and complicated reveal event.

And you just know if it was the other way around people would breaking him over the coals for being excited about a son.

I also see lots of gender reveals and the comments always have disgusting double standards. In one, the mum accidentally ruined the reveal and the dad was disappointed it was ruined for 5 seconds (literally counted it) but he quickly got back in the game, kissed her and they carried on like nothing happened.

The comments? Saying he's abusive, saying he probably just wanted a boy, he's toxic, controlling, 'did you see how scared she looked', saying it was just a mistake etc. The men were being white knights and simps "if it were me, I wouldn't care and just comfort her" and other stupid stuff.

He had 5 seconds of disappointment and anger over the reveal being ruined and people jumped to all sorts of conclusions. He literally kissed her after and carried on like normal.

The guy is about to have a child. Which IS the best thing that can happen to you in your whole entire life. And he is upset at the gender? He needs to get his priorities straight. I'm so happy for that mother that she is proud of her child.

Having children shouldn't be a coin toss of gender where one or the other is preferable. This ain't the gender lottery.

I think you may be thinking a bit too far ahead. When you know you're about to become a parent, you naturally start thinking and fantasizing about what it'll be like, and that could easily include thinking of gender-related stuff. The disappointment have been simple surprise; the realization that some of the things you were looking forward too wouldn't happen. Think of it like a getting present that wasn't what you were expecting it to be- are you (at the moment) disappointed? Sure- but that doesn't mean you won't love what you DO get, or that it's a bad thing. A look is just a look; it's not like the guy started crying, or went on a tear about how awful boys are, right? Most likely it's just a moment of sorrow at the recognition of unfulfilled expectations; give 'em a little slack. People praising him for not wanting a son (which, as I said, may not have even been the case) IS disgustingly sexist, but that's really nothing new, is it?

On the other hand, there's one point you didn't raise that I feel DOES need to be ranted about; a point of great and cosmic unimportance, which is that "reveal" is a VERB! It would be a gender "revealing" party, or a gender "revelation" party (which you could even make Bible-themed, to confuse the living fuck out of your friends and family).

Gender reveals, in my opinion, are a personal thing.

Gender reveal parties are a sickness. Just tell people what child you're going to have, we don't need yet another event to take time and money out of our lives.

I was disappointed when I found out I was going to have a son, not because I personally cared, but because I wanted my child to be on the positive side of the Gender Empathy Gap and to not be considered disposable in adulthood.

Once he was born, I loved him so much, and I wouldn't change him for the world. He's so cute and crazy.

He's two years old now. When he goes to school, I will be ready to defend him against any misandrist teachers.

Fathers always have a softer spot for their little girls. Vice versa with women who love their little prince more than their daughter. This isnt anything strange really.
