It depends. Some women kinda like receiving the number has it leaves the ball in their court and kind of eases the pressure. You can just leave your number and she doesn't have to worry about giving her number to a guy she just met... On the other hand, many women still want the man to lead so if you give them your number, you're leaving the leading to them and that usually doesn't really work.

I can certainly appreciate why some women would prefer you give them your number, but I think there's still so many women that prefer when a man leads the interaction at an early stage and they're not really gonna have the guts to re-initiate. Overall your odds are better if you ask for their number.

What matters more is how you give or get the number and less who has it first. Make your intentions known, and then just pick one that you prefer. If the vibe is good and she is in to you, and you do it confidently, it wont really matter which one you go for

Say you’ll give her your number, when she hands you her phone, text yourself something playful from her phone, like “Hey good looking.” Now she has yours, you have hers, and you can playfully tease her for calling you good looking in the first text
