This guy isn't worth the effort to address the dishonesty in his representation of TinMen.

So he literally comes straight out and says that male gender expectations are to blame for male suicide, which is... by definition... a societal problem... and even highlights himself the definition saying it's a societal problem. But then ends his video with the conclusion that this is something for men to confront individually and internally. I hope he also concludes that female gender expectations are for women to confront by themselves the same way, right?

As far as I know TinMen's work, he has never denied, that gender roles, norms and expectations are harmful to men. Yes, he is not a fan of the term "toxic masculinity", though not because he wants to promote "traditional masculinity", but because it's a buzzword, which puts the whole blame on men and makes complex problems into a simplistic feminist dogma.

And btw. the author of this research was once his guest. She shared his view on this topic, as far as I can remember.

The video is a stunning display of many biases and logical fallacies that characterise feminist discussion of men's rights activism. Firstly, using the fact that, for some people, men's rights may be a way to deflect from a discussion of female issues to disparage the notion of men's rights activism itself is just whataboutism to the second degree. If he's accusing some MRAs of reducing the notion of men's rights to a way to derail conversations about women's issues, then he's guilty of the same thing, by using the alleged behaviour of certain MRAs to derail conversations about men's issues.

Secondly, he disingenuously misrepresents the activity of The Tin Men, by refusing to recognise the positive nature of the post on how women can be special. Furthermore, his argument on male suicide is contradictory, to say the list. He recognises, as the studies do, that men's suicide is largely related to societal pressure and expectations and, in the same breath, argues that this is something men should deal with on their own. Essentially, he's blaming men for being incapable of withstanding societal expectations. Telling them to go to therapy is not much better than saying "men can cry" - it's frankly insulting. With this, I'm not arguing that therapy cannot be helpful and it certainly is in many cases, I'm simply saying that he's using it to avoid discussing more general issues affective men and leading them to suicidal ideation.

The Dadvocate has debunked one of his videos before. But there's another YouTuber who debunked him and other "male feminist" youtubers.

The HoneyBadgerRadio also recently got into fight with him, to which of course, he hasn't responded to because he was wrong. The problem with ex.patriarch is that he's a major coward who bans anyone who's against him on his channel (he's banned many women for calling him out, too). He also cherry-picks data when it suits him and when people calls him out, he either ignores them or blocks them. You'll notice he never actually wants to engage with people, but wants to (ironically) mansplain his version of feminism to others. And he has the gall to label himself as an 'advocate for men' in his videos.

Another one of his kind to watch out for is the 'speechprof' who does the same as him. The dude actually excused drew afuelo body shaming men because "men did it first." Yeah these guys are just suffering from internalised misandry.

I wonder what women suicide rates would be if we had affirmative action for men, longer prison sentences for women, less overmen’s subsidization, forced extraction of earnings for a former spouse( alimony), the punishment for failing to meet such obligations realists in prison time, and default assumption of father custody, an education system that is overwhelmingly biased against them, and a culture that claims that they are backwards and need to be corrected.

Do you think women suicide rates would be higher… or lower ?

Socialization ending in emotional neutering is bad for the boys who become men. Sure, agreed.

Although this happens to each individually, it reflects a larger systemic societal issue. Yep.

So in the spirit of rugged individualism, it’s up to each man to fix his problems on his own. Um, sadly, that’s close to reality, and no man is a victim, right? No weakness!

Seek therapy? Aside from issues of access and cost, why would a man seek a solution which has been thoroughly captured by a mindset which serves to enforce his bondage and denigration?

Sounds like a problem with a fix which includes plenty of shaming and invalidation.

His videos are actually great and insightful. But his comment section turns into a cesspool of women trauma dumping and making the issue about themselves.
