Why Physical Attraction Isn’t Your Biggest Concern
I owe a lot of my success with women to one of my closest friends. For context, I’m 6’3, black and fit and depending on the girl, I’ve been rated anywhere from an 8 to a 10. Some have even called me ugly, ironically, the ones who weren’t exactly models themselves. Most guys assume I have women throwing themselves at me just because of my looks, and they get jealous over my height, facial structure, or whatever else. But here’s the truth: looks only get you in the door, if you don’t know how to trigger emotions, you won’t last in the lobby.
When I was 19 (I’m 23 now), I had a friend who was the complete opposite of me physically. He was 5’6, chubby, and nowhere near conventionally attractive. And yet, this dude was pulling way more girls than me. And not just average girls—7s, 8s, even a few 9s. Meanwhile, I was stuck on dating apps, barely getting matches. I couldn’t wrap my head around it.
I thought, How does this make sense? I was trying to be the “perfect” guy, dressing well, planning things out, never making mistakes. He was just himself. But that’s when I realized: I was too focused on trying to be ideal, he was focused on making them feel.
Where Most Men Go Wrong
I was disconnected from women emotionally. I didn’t make them feel anything that got them hooked. My friend, on the other hand, was a master at making people feel comfortable and understood.
When I went through a breakup, I remember how he subtly made me feel better, letting me talk, playing music that lifted my mood, and making me feel heard without forcing it. That’s when I realized:
This is exactly what he does with women.
Most people, especially women, walk around feeling unheard, undervalued, and emotionally disconnected. My friend naturally filled those emotional gaps, and women became addicted to that feeling.
He wasn’t using money, looks, or status. He was making them feel something missing in their lives.
The Psychology of Emotional Connection
- The “You Get Me” Effect
•Women want to feel understood without judgment. Instead of just saying “I understand,” show them you do.
•Example: If she’s talking about her struggles, instead of changing the subject, say:
• “That makes sense why you’re so independent now. You had to figure things out early, huh?”
•This makes her feel like you see her, not just hear her.
- Giving What’s Missing
•People are drawn to those who give them what they lack.
•If she’s constantly stressed, she’s drawn to the guy who makes her feel calm.
•If she’s stuck in a boring routine, she’s drawn to the guy who brings excitement.
•The key is identifying what she’s missing and being that presence naturally, not forcing it.
3.Controlling the Vibe
•My friend wasn’t afraid to match the energy women wanted.
•He wouldn’t blast hard rap just to seem tough, he’d play music that fit the vibe, making them feel at ease.
•He subtly controlled the atmosphere, making them emotionally associate him with comfort and connection.
Looks Get You In, Emotional Intelligence Keeps You There
Most guys think being attractive means automatic success. But if that were true, why do average-looking men with no status sometimes have women obsessing over them?
Because they know how to make women feel.
•They create excitement without being chaotic.
•They give emotional depth without being weak.
•They understand that emotional connection always beats raw attraction.
Why I’m Sharing This
Because I had to learn it the hard way. I was focused on looks, logic, and “playing it right,” while my friend—who looked nothing like a “player”, was thriving. Once I figured this out, my dating life changed completely.
I get a lot of hate for trying to share this knowledge, but I know how frustrating it is to feel like nothing works. I’m trying to help guys see what actually matters.
If you liked this and want more real examples, let me know. If not, that’s fine too, but this knowledge changed everything for me.
