Where do you live that it isn't optional?

Most 1st world countries have extremely low circumcision rates and it is parental option in many. In not a single one is it mandatory.

I think one compromise for this could be to give individuals autonomy over this matter and allow them to get circumcision by choice after they turn 18 and not allow it unless for medical purposes before then.

Maybe you don't know, but in the "1 world countries" just in the usa and another usa-follower country cut their toddlers, in the rest of the western world it's not popular, just in the muslims and the jews. The foreskin has a function, just humans are against it

Actually most 1st world countries do not circumcise. Europe overwhelmingly does not, Japan overwhelmingly does not, Australia and New Zealand also do not circumcise hardly at all. Canada is down to only 30% infant circumcision. But if you want google "map of countries that circumcise" and you will see that aside from the USA the countries you see color coded as having high rates of circumcision are also overwhemingly third world countries often places with on going conflicts, poverty, lack of education. Its ironic only people from these third world cutting countries would see American circumcision as normal. 1st world countries look at America circumcising as male genital mutilation, which it is.

I can see where you're coming from, you haven't experienced any complications, either directly or indirectly or mourned a family member. For those that have, preventing babies/families from similar experiences, and any potential risk. The warnings are met with arguments you wouldn't really see if someone had lost a family member to recreational drug taking or a speeding motorist when raising the potential dangers;

"I've taken loads of drugs and it's never hurt me", or "I speed all the time and never been in an accident".

If the best possible outcome seems to be "it's had no negative effect on me" and "it still works just fine", versus the risk of a botched procedure resulting in a lifetime of hospital visits, amputation, or even the risk of death, and parents still chose to take the chance with their own baby, is evidence that it's a decision that requires societal intervention to safeguard children.

It was optional when I was born in the US and still is. I didn't even notice the difference until I was a teenager and just nothing happened and it's the default. Globally it's 70% uncut and the US is the only non-religious countries where a majority practices it at birth. Circumcision is the minority and the odd one.
