Auch 🫂. But it's good that you broke up with him. That kind of argument doesn't sound like someone who is emotionally mature enough to take responsibility and handle correctly their life (let alone take responsibility and handle a relationship) because even if it gives him "genuine enjoyment" it's destroying his life in the process (his real life, not his online persona) which already tells a lot about his priorities, as well as lack of life skill and social capacities (to be chan the only place he find enjoyment doesn't tell much about the world in general... but about himself as a person)... and part of what he said sounds like guilt tripping... making you feel guilty for something that isn't your fault, but his. And trying to downgrade you so he won't have to take accountability over actions that are bad and hurtful. And I feel a hint of gaslighting from his part too, correct me if I mistake.

Now take a break. Breaking up is painful by itself (even if it was a relationship that wasn't working), and you will still go through a grieving process because of it. Don't rush into anything. Take your time to recover and reflect on what you've been through. It's also important not to isolate yourself during your time of mourning. Little by little, try to strengthen your bonds with people you trust in your circle (they will help you a lot; go out and talk to friends or family) or try to expand your circle of friends if they are too small, so you don't feel alone in all this. Look for activities that fill you with joy... mainly activities that you enjoy, that are social and active and/or creative (and remember that this difficult time does not limit your life, that there is much more to life than the relationship you had with him, and that it is a good opportunity to seek to develop yourself as a person and in what you really enjoy). And I'm not saying you should start all this right away, or start a new relationship. Go at your own pace and just try to avoid getting stuck in a depressive rut, and create a healthy support network (with friends and family) to help you get through this. That's all.

And if you need to, don't be afraid to cut all ties with that person. Zero contact can really help you. Don't reply to messages, delete photos, limit interactions in general, etc. At least until you've recovered enough to be able to talk with him again without feeling that flood of emotions that you're probably feeling now because the breakup is so recent.

And finally, remember that he is primarily responsible for his own life (just as you are for yours). The decisions he makes are not your fault (he is an adult, not a child), and he is the one who refuses to seek professional help if he finds it so difficult to break a habit or behavior that is harmful to him and others. You did the right thing in seeking advice to see what options might help, but if he doesn't want to accept help, there's nothing else you can do. Focus on improving yourself and your life, and if you need a space from everything while you get through this rough patch, that's okay 🫂. And remember, you didn't betray him by breaking up, what happened is that you have been betraying yourself this whole time by letting him hurt you this much, by trying to leave yourself and your well being behing in order to meet all his whims, by forcing you to handle a burden that wasn't yours in the first place.

It took me a good month to start feeling 'good' about my long overdue decision to get away from a person who spouted increasingly nasty beliefs as time went on, and I put up with it...

Until I didn't.

Be strong, be kind to yourself, don't explain yourself again, ride out the initial confused period.

Look, people who have been hurt and younger guys who haven't had enough life experience find red pill thinking compelling because it gives them a way to understand what they can't understand.

Red pill is popular because it has kernels of truth, it falls over because it's way too generalised and nowhere near neuonced enough.

If young guys could see the absolute losers behind keyboards who are most vocal about red pill, they would walk.

Accept it's a phase he's going through, don't personalise it.
