The week a male turns 18 in this country you will be enrolled in Selective Service Draft. I did in October of 2000 and was dumfounded when my twin sister didn't have to do the same cause we've always been told men and women are equal, 45 now I still hear it but have yet to see it

Women are 54% of the electorate and mathematically control every election. They also control the majority of the nation's wealth, and that's expected to grow explosively to a full 2/3rds by 2030.

They will never ever, ever lift a finger, or for that matter allow a finger to be lifted, to enact reform that benefits men. Female lawmakers would laugh you out of the room for even bringing it up, the same way they would if you suggested giving men reproductive rights, reforming family law to not destroy men and reward women for divorce, or pass laws to make jail sentences genderblind so that men don't routinely get nine times longer sentences than women.

Any of these efforts would by definition have to be undertaken by the "progressive" party, and it just so happens our "progressive" party is built on the core belief that men are toxic pieces of shit that richly deserve to be punished for having the audacity to exist.

The women's groups are quiet about the male only draft until the idea of registering females comes up. Then the women's groups start talking about abolishing draft registration until the topic is changed at which time they become silent again. Strange how they want all rights in our country, but they don't want the responsibilities that come with it.

Greetings from Russia. At least you don't have conscription and don't have to serve for a year. We have mandatory conscription from 18 to 30 years old, and you have to register for military service. A law has now been introduced that allows citizenship to be revoked if you don't register for military service. And this only applies to men. I'd also like to comment on Ukraine, which has banned men from crossing border due to strict mobilization. Overall, it's all sad, be it the US, Russia, or Ukraine.

They have tried to change this a couple of times over the years but Republicans in particular oppose it. I think it was challenged in 2019 and before that in 1981 and the US Courts both times affirmed the discrimination in the draft was ok. Despite the fact that in the 2019 case the plaintiffs argued that it didn't make sense because women now have access to all areas of the US military including combat roles. In the 1981 case the fact that women had no access to combat roles was used successfully to argue against conscription for women

Although it's not actual conscription it's what's called de jure conscription where you have to register and in some countries also have to submit to a compulsory medical exam (often conducted by women who are exempt). This is what happens in China and Poland and soon in Germany where young men have to register and take a medical. In the US there is no medical. Just registration.

I read in a paper by someone called Chapman published in 2004 on women in the US military that the attempt to get an equal rights clause for gender in the US Constitution failed under President Carter because conservatives insisted that it include an exemption for conscription (similar I guess to the Finnish sex discrimination law that excludes conscription as a discrimination matter).

Chapman argues that had women had the same restriction as they had during the Vietnam war (basically confined to nursing - the 12 women listed along with the 58,000 men on the wall in Washington were all nurses) then during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars they would been forced to reactivate the male only draft. Women by that time held a diverse range of roles in the military although still back then excluded from direct combat. I've read other confirmation on Quora from people who served that they were already stretched very thin and came very close to reactivating the draft even with female participation

By the way in regards to the argument made by the applicants in the 2019 US case it appears that many countries with male only conscription such as Austria Switzerland, South Korea and Finland also allow women full access to combat so their argument for male only military service can't be that they don't want women in combat.

I've found reviewing this issue in other countries and not only the US that opposition to extending conscription to women doesn't usually come from feminists who tend to be indifferent or sometimes mildly supportive (although a major feminist group in Norway opposed the extension of the draft to women when it happened there) but from conservatives because it upsets traditional gender roles

There shouldn’t be a draft at all. Perhaps mandatory civil service after high school, in any federal/state employed role, would bring a better outcome for everyone. Those who want to enlist, could, and everyone else able to work would serve their countrymen at home while gaining experience in essentially any industry.

I hate to say this, but no. No, it isn't the time. It would be seen as weakness, and possibly push several bad actors worried about American involvement to attack their neighbors, much like Putin did with Ukraine after Biden got elected.

The time was in 1981, when Jimmy Carter should've been arrested for violating the thirteenth Amendment, or in 2002, when Dubya decided that the best response to a clear and present danger to "our freedom" was to ramp up an organization whose entire purpose was to deprive American citizens of it.

NCFM would've had a chance in 2020, but the lockdowns killed it, a lunatic killed Mr. Angelucci, and Biden made more progress on killing the Bill of Rights.

If you want battle slavery gone, you need to wait until the bulk of the populace doesn't see it as political suicide- or to run for office yourself and take it down as the treasonous hypocrisy that it is.

I’m actually ok with it. At the end of the day, we don’t get to just have the respect and recognition we deserve, no matter what, the chances of that happening are gone. Call me old school, I do still believe in a moral code, I do still believe that what truly makes a man a man is that willingness to let the women and children go first. If we want respect, validation, and recognition, we have to hold up our moral code. At the end of the day we will always be able to say “you treated us like garbage, kicked us when we were down, and yet we still sacrificed for you”. Because while it isn’t a responsibility we asked to have, it’s one that has to fall on us. While there’s many things in society that need to change to show equality, I think this one just is the way it is. On the bright side at least it means that in a war you’ll be surrounded by brothers that love you and would lay down their life for you as you would for them, and brotherhood can’t be taken away. And more realistically if we do get drafted it’s more likely we just do motor pool or something while squads of autonomous fighter jets do the rest.
