For various reasons, some people get very invested in this gender ideology, so invested that it negatively impacts how they experience the world. The point of the subreddit, I think, is mostly to help people touch grass and turn off the doomer machismo infomercial feed.
Redpill influencers generally include some inoffensive self-help content (like, it's true that you should get some exercise) but it's all mixed in with confused ideas about relationships and your role in society, ideas that seem designed to sabotage the people who take them on.

In general, redpill tends to be woefully inaccurate, manipulative of both men and women looking for answers and community, and have negative effects on mental health, relationships, self-image, etc. It follows similar patterns to cults and radicalized movements, isolates its followers, and will often shoehorn partial truths and outright lies in with a few truths in order to convince their followers to keep consuming content. Leaving the red pill tends to mean changing the content that you consume, looking for inconsistencies in logic and conclusions, changing the way that you approach relationships, sometimes getting therapy, following deradicalization procedures or cutting ties with harmful people if it’s severely impacting you.

The red pill guys tell you that you’ve got to do xyz or you’re a cuck. But Rollo Tomassi’s wife is older than him, was at “the wall” or past it, and he still married her. I know for a fact that these guys don’t practice what they preach. For having so many rules, it’s insanely disingenuous that they wind up doing the same exact shit that they tell everyone else not to do.

Then there’s the whole “body count” thing, where they have guys believing that every woman bangs a ton of dudes. I don’t think that’s true. Of course there are some that do, but I don’t think it’s the majority.

It’s hard to leave the red pill because, with their talk of “the matrix” and everything, they convince you that you’re living a lie if you choose to be “blue pill”.

Edit: also, when I learned that there are different attachment styles, that helped me realize that their gimmicks they use to get women are probably only working on women with attachment issues. They like to make you believe that every woman acts the same, but that’s not true. Ignoring someone who is securely attached will lead to a different outcome than someone who is anxiously attached. But if it doesn’t work out with a girl, they’ll just assume it’s because she’s fucking a CHAD instead of the fact that it’s because she doesn’t have attachment issues.

I didn’t like the one dimensional puppet it was turning me into- overly focused on male validation and turning myself into some trophy doll for a potential husband.

I didn’t like what I believed about women and the world, with literally no evidence. Honestly, just googling most of the things red pillers believe would make you realize what bullshit it is (such as the belief that women in general find 80% of men unattractive, or that women are essentially forever children, or that we would be happier as second class citizens).

Rampant racism that I never could get past. And since Trump has been elected, it’s gone into hyperdrive. Even the people of color and black folks who were hardcore maga conservatives a couple years ago are being bullied and ostracized by their white audiences now. It’s pretty embarrassing

I don't like the red pill either but as I get older I see it as a necessary evil because there's no alternative script

There's tons of debate on what constitutes the correct approach ideals origin points behind the behaviors on why men should and how they should not approach women but no one even questions why that's still a thing and why women don't even do the opposite we still as a culture have a lot to unpack with male sexuality
