The day is here. I’m finally divorced after $170k in attorney fees, maxing out tons of credit cards and all the false accusations of abuse and drugs. I have been fighting this thing for 6 years I’m just glad I I stuck with it and didn’t give up. I ended up with 50/50 custody no child support.

She ended up owing me almost 8k from back child support. I asked for them to have her pay it in full. She claimed she spent the money even knowing she wasn’t suppose to. She proposed paying $100 a month as that was all she could afford(she makes about $8,500 a month). I then proposed she pay the amount I was paying in child support as that would only be fair. I didn’t have a choice whether I paid it or not. Mine was garnished. She couldn’t do that so she said max she could do was $150. It’s a slap in the face but I agreed on $200 a month. I also asked for interest which the judge denied. Which I think is bullshit. But the judge said we didn’t know we were going to have to be doing this. I said for the last two years we did. Doesn’t matter. I’ll just take the L on that.

How have y’all navigated having to pay back credit cards loans? Should I be looking to file for bankruptcy? I’m a disabled veteran who’s homebound(not allowed to work because of my injuries). So I get paid a fixed amount each month. These last few months have been a real struggle but I always kept my mind on I’ll had that money she owes me to pay off a few cards to make things manageable. Now I don’t know what I’m going to do. Electricity and water bills are maxed by thousands before they get shut off. What would be the best course of action to take now that I’m finally free?
