Push for a trial. Be honest with the judge about this being an undue financial burden

Welcome to Texas….. first, family court is run by the bar association. So expect to be drained financially. Second, Texas only has a custodial vs non custodial parent. So even if you have 50/50 custody, you are the NCP and must pay child support. That money goes through the state distribution unit. They state collects federal grant reimbursements from title IV-D. The state is incentivized to force one parent to pay. Mothers have 91% custody in the state of Texas as they want the men out working and pushing the economy.

Only thing you can do here is push for a trial date or mediation. The latter is faster and you can be done much faster than waiting for a trial. You need the attorney to push for mediation. He/she is probably out golfing/drinking with the opposing counsel this weekend. They are all in bed together.

Wow, this sounds a lot like my case. It took 2.5 years here in CA (partly due to Covid, but mostly because my ex was unreasonable). I hated getting those huge legal bills every month, and I too had to continue paying for her insurance (which seems insane).

As much as I begged my attorney, there's not much you can do to make the courts move faster (short of an emergency order). I even went so far as to ask if it was possible to sue the court system for delaying my trial! I was literally forced to remain married because the courts were too busy to hear my case.

For that reason, I tell anyone considering divorce to request a court date ASAP. You don't have to go to court, you just want to get in the queue. Otherwise, once mediation and/or settlement negotiations fail (which can also take years), you're stuck in the back of the line waiting for a court date. Also, with a date pending, it can force negotiations.

If you suspect your spouse or her attorney are dragging things out (as we did), you can ask for a stipend (or threaten to). If a judge agrees, they can be penalized for using such tactics.

As for insurance, you may be entitled to reimbursement. I asked for reimbursement of all insurance payments made post-separation. If your wife is also employed, you may be able to also ask for reimbursement for some of the children's insurance as well (or have it deducted from child support).

In my case, my ex ran out of money and started filing temporary orders to try and secure temporary spousal support. This led to the court to move up our trial date so they wouldn't have to hear two separate trials (to decide temporary support and then permanent support).

It will end, it just takes a lot of time and money. It was torture, but things are much better now.

When your insurance renewal comes up take her off of it and just have insurance for you and your kids only

Set a trial date. That's the only motivation she will have to hammer out an agreement during mediation. Because a stranger in robes making life-altering decisions on he behalf that she has no influence over is enough fear, uncertainty and doubt for her to become rational enough to make an agreement with you. Even if she is so entitled that she won't agree to anything, at least it'll be over when it goes in front of a judge.

Idk if it can’t get worse. If you have been a stand up guy and take care of what you needed to. Is there anything you can use against her? Cheater, mental issues, drugs, criminal offenses?

If it was me, it’s time to fight dirty. Need to brainstorm.

?file formal complaints against the judge. ? Has to be a court document to file as well that challenges the child support amount. ?Civil suits are easy to file. You could sue your ex for dragging this out in small claims court. Idk what the limit six, it might be $10k. -can you file a claim for reimbursement in court of medical for her children. ?social media - name the judge and your story Name your ex. If you can do it without it coming back to you. Women like to maintain there image even though there evil. If you can tarnish the image they freak out.
- delay paying child support until the last day That you can avoid penalties? -cancel anything you can that you were not stipulated by court. Phone plans? Utilities? Tell her she has to get her own.

I’m sure there is some smart guys out here that know some leverage ideas.

Maybe if you focused less on your own shitty political takes and more on your marriage you wouldn’t be in this situation
