My ex-wife and I sold our house in Alaska earlier this year through a local house buyer because we thought it would make the divorce simpler and faster. At the time, we were both agreeing on everything and just wanted to move on without dragging lawyers and repairs into it. We closed fast, split the money, and I moved out of state, thinking the hard part was over.
Now, suddenly, she’s claiming I pressured her into selling too quickly and keeps bringing up the amount we accepted for the house. Apparently, her family thinks we should’ve listed traditionally and gotten more money. Now lawyers are involved anyway, and I honestly feel like the entire easy solution turned into a bigger disaster later.
Has anyone else had a house sale become part of divorce drama after everything was already done?
