If you divorced and sold your marital home, what did you do with all of the stuff?

Divorced but kept the marital home. Anything that she bought or gave to me, I threw out. That included a really nice coffee espresso machine. All of her decorations I threw away. The mountains of boxes for every single season are gone. It's taken me almost a year to get rid of all the junk. Not because I'm attached to it but because after 20 years there was so much shit

I’m going through that now. 20 years of shit piled up. I called an auction house and they came to my house loaded it up and are about to sell it. The guy is going to take 40%. Not a bad deal

I felt like why waste money buying new stuff so I tried to keep a lot of stuff to put in new place or in storage till I can buy a new home. I dont have an emotional attachment (like it reminds me of the ex) but really saw no value in just getting rid of all my nice furniture. All the knick nack stuff went in a garage sell, thrift store or garbage.

Will be two 15 yard dumpsters for me. Filled one already and will do one after it sells. All the valuable things we tried on fb marketplace first.

I took everything I could fit in the car with me and the dog and that was it. I sold a couple of things online, donated a bunch of stuff, put stuff on the curb for free, and trashed everything else. One thing that helped was walking around the house first with several rolls of different colored masking tape. I used it to mark the items based on what I wanted to do with them.

We use the Buy Nothing group on Facebook. But, that takes as much time as selling it.... unless...you do a free garage sale type post. Best of luck to y'all and congratulations on the new life.
