Anybody else tired of hearing empty platitudes?

Western society has no idea how to sit in discomfort or silence. Period. Both of those things are indelible and incredibly useful parts of life, and yet, getting into a new relationship is perceived as some master goal, while discomfort is primarily a problem to be avoided. It affects how we deal with conflict and interpersonal relationships in general, as well as how we sit (or rather, don’t sit) with ourselves.

During my divorce last year, I got a lot of this, and it was frustrating, but I just interpreted it as people meaning well but not having the right words because they’ve never been through it.

I was diagnosed with cancer a couple months ago, and it’s actually worse if you can believe it.

"Everything will work out in the end" is what gets me the most because it's the exact OPPOSITE of what will happen in the end.

The human mortality rate is 100% so all systems CRASH in the end and it's usually not pretty. I don't get where people find the mental delusion to think that things will work out in the end.

Never go to someone who has never gone thru it. They honestly never understand. Time/space and any other thing always depends the person. The stress that comes with it is completely exhausting. Then the after effects of it all comes crashin in. Its hard even if your the one who intiated it.

You'll find that talking to people about your divorce is a great way to create distance. People offer platitudes because they don't want to engage on a deeper level with you about your shit, which is fine. What are you expecting from them?

It's something people say when they have nothing else to say and don't want to sit there listening and looking like a moron.

People, by nature, feel like when someone is talking, that they have to respond. To some, it just feels unbearably uncomfortable to just not speak something.

I've learned that just listening, not speaking unless asked something or until the pause is long enough to give me time to actually contribute something meaningful to the conversation.

Is all lies and excuses for people who use those quotes just focus on yourself take accountability if any if you don’t have any great not your fault people just love to create excuses in why things didn’t work out just do you
