turning over a new leaf for the men's rights

for that to make any sense, you'd have to demonstrate that /r/mensrights is discriminatory towards women, or that the men's rights community should be ashamed of itself in some way.

and we'd probably choose someone with an actual history within the subreddit to lead it, if we ever chose to do it.

and "tightly moderating it" isn't the way to encourage critical discussion. /r/againstmensrights posters are allowed to post here. THAT is how a subreddit dealing with contentious subject matter should be run.

I used to live with my Aunt. She happened to have schizo-affective disorder, and one of her various symptoms was to be very, very concerned with how I rinsed out the empty pop bottles. I did my best to rinse them out to her standards, but she'd still bark at me over it. Then I realized: 'She's a crazy person. I will never be able to rinse out the bottles to her standards, because she has none. It's done wrong if I do it and done right if she does it; that's all there is to it.' So I stopped giving a shit and just let her rant.

(BTW, she's on medication now and is back to being the person I love.)

Anyway, that day I learned a valuable lesson. Sometimes people are determined to hate you. Not because of anything you've done, but because of their perception of what you are. You can never change this perception. And paradoxically, it seems that most of the time when you try, they just nitpick you even more. Giving into them accomplishes nothing but wearing you out. Ignore them instead. If they won't see that you're not the boogeyman they believe you to be, you can't make them, so don't bother trying. Leave them to keep tilting at windmills.

If you want to be better, be better for your own sake. Not theirs.

Ive actually reported this thread because I'm sick of this bollox.

You couldn't even demonstrate the problem that you initially claimed existed, then you changed your goal to protecting feminists from criticism.

I think the board is going to have to develop a policy for dealing with this tone policing crap.

If you think the movement is all wrong, or are afraid of the false accusations that feminists will always make , you are better of just leaving the movement.
