I’m considering blurring the truth with my ex. She won’t let our oldest go on school field trips unless one of us is there. I vaguely remember a conversation about this last fall, and so far, we have each chaperoned one trip. I wasn’t planning on going this time because I want my child to enjoy time with their classmates and experience the trip without a parent hovering.

It’s a strange situation. I was going to reach out to the teacher to ask for the permission slip to be put in my child’s backpack so I could sign it and send it back without my STBX knowing. However, she reached out to me first. I may just say I’m going, and then claim I’m sick on the day of the trip if she asks why I wasn't there.
