When I was with my narc ex in high school, he went into a rage when he found out I opened up to a friend about our issues. He used it as an excuse to stonewall me on a field trip that I had been looking forward to spending with him. The entire time, he relished spending it with his friends and pretending that he literally didn’t know who I was. I cried the entire trip, all because I had confided in a friend about how emotionally abusive he was.

Lol, my ex would give his number/fb info out to pretty much any girl that would talk to him. He used his job title and single status to lure in women who were looking for a husband and string them along. I eventually stopped believing his excuses (just friends, my mom forced me to talk to her, she’s helping me with my visa so I have to be nice, etc) and broke it off, but not before I got their names and messaged them all screenshots of his texts begging me to come back and how none of them meant anything to him. I blocked him everywhere but he still managed to find me on some app and harass me about “spreading lies” about him to his “friends” 💅🏽

Bleh. My ex husband was like this. If I told anyone about our issues I’d later have to cut them out of my life because it would be “uncomfortable” for him. I quit confiding in people altogether and suffered silently for so long. When I finally gathered the nerve to leave him, I confided in my brother (to pick me up from the airport) and my family (so I could have a place to stay). Once we reconciled, because I was an idiot, he was trying to say, “Well, I guess I can’t be around your family anymore since you told them everything.” I hate that I allowed myself that level of isolation.

Storytime- My father is an extremely abusive terrible person who always behaved terribly (and that is a generous way to put it) with his wife and kids. Now, as an adult, I want absolutely nothing to do with him, and don't give him time of the day. He takes it out mostly on my mother, and sometimes on my little sibling, because she didn't justify his actions to us or manipulate us to appease him.
