Conversation over text:

Her: okay LabelOtherSide, it hurts so bad

Me: what’s wrong babe?

Her: this feeling that I can’t trust you This feeling that, while you love me, you don’t respect me This feeling that I have to work so hard to please you

I knew you’d just laugh at me today And that hurts so bad That you did. That I knew you would.

I just want to leave Not forever I just want to go to (one state over, where both our families are from) For a visit with your momma I just want to talk to her because she loves you and she knows you and she knows how hard marriage can be

Me: we’ll talk when I get home

Her: sure we will And it will be like all of our other conversations You’ll say the right things to make me feel better But nothing will change I feel stuck

Me; we’ll talk about it when I get home

Her: whatever See you at 5:30 This close to just going to (state where we are both from) I’m losing it LabelOtherSide

Me: I’m here for you babe. I hear everything you are saying. I want to talk about it in person.

Her: I’m driving back towards (your office) I know you’re working I just need to feel like the babies and I are somewhere safe until I regain composure

——- So the background here is that I might be losing my job soon. Didn’t tell her though. So I mentioned “if we had to move for a job, would you want to move closer to family?” That was yesterday. Today she brought it up when she came to visit me for lunch. I laughed cause it’s so silly that she picks up on things. She is nervous but I neither confirmed nor denied. Then she hit me with the wall of text above, after we parted ways and I went back to work.

We recently had a sit-down whee I explained some of my hang-ups with myself. And I apologized for hurting her in a few ways. Things have been much better around the house since then and she has been so happy. We have both torn some walls down and committed to being the best we can be. So this text is so off-character. She’s four weeks postpartum. She’s probably sitting on my office parking lot crying her eyes out right now. I didn’t respond to the threat to drive off, at lest not directly. I just didn’t respond since I figured she was dreading me. Then by not responding I guess I dreaded her and she sent the rest of the convo. That’s when I said “I hear you/still want to talk in person though”

Help guys. I’ve been taking ice baths every night and doing shit, took my car to get the airbag recalled, trying to be my best. Eating more. Spending time with the kids. Yada yada. Did I handle this right?

(Sorry formatting sucks I’m on mobile. Her texts were like four texts each but here they look like one)
