I'm 60 and it's the law of diminishing returns in practice. Why would I risk my peace and financial security for the chance of a good LTR when I have had 3 major relationships in my life and they have all failed. The fact that 2nd marriages have a higher divorce rate doesn't phase them.

When you are young, you can bounce back from a shitty relationship and get back on your feet financially and emotionally. Not so much now.
