Normally dating advice and relationship discussion on Reddit is filled with lousy advice. However, I just came across an IAMA thread by a dating specialist that contained a decent amount of Red Pill validation. There is nothing new, but it was interesting to read, since it was a totally neutral zone, without any overt feminist or Red Pill leanings guiding the overall discussion. Of course, the dating coach was careful how he phrased things, so as not to say anything that could drive away potential female clients.
HERE is the Redditlog link. Below are some selected excerpts, with some additional comments. It starts out with a question from a post-wall poster.
Dating for women over 40...start with the tough one! All men my age want 35ish women, or at least a lot younger than I can pull off. I am the desired age group for 55+ men. What gives?? What advice do you have other than "don't be old”
The dating guy, Hunt, replies tactfully:
All of the men your age are looking for younger women to start a family with. The men older than you want to date you and then have their prune juice and call it a night. The ones that are full of joi de vivre are younger than you and you might not find that desirable.
In other words; yes, you’re older than men find desirable, other than for much older men who don’t want to start a family. This is not what women that age want to believe. The media sells a fantasy where she can divorce and have her pick of single men who are part time fitness models and full time CEOs. Not so.
He continues:
a lot of female clients of mine that are over 40 have many years of ingrained behavior that is unconsciously pushing men away. Sometimes it's going too fast, too soon. Other times it is a sense of time counting down. Or that when younger you learned how to brush off a guy and now find it difficult to open up and be vulnerable
He is a dating coach, so his perspective is that he can make anyone attractive by altering their behaviours. He has to put things this way, because otherwise he won’t get clients. Still, reading between the lines, he has some valid points. The engrained behaviour and other things he mentions would most likely boil down to female entitlement. She will also have to learn how to be more feminine.
She replies to him:
Where are single men my age?? They all seem to be snagged up as soon as they are separated, forget waiting for an actual divorced one.
See the difference in SMV at her age. Men can simply announce they are leaving their marriage and, if they remotely have their lives together, have women waiting for them. Over 35-years old is a whole different ballgame to under 30-years old.
Now she mentions a female friend of hers:
I have watched a very beautiful, awesome friend of mine get really down that she doesn't have a man in her life. She pushes them all away with a huge list of outdated rules like you don't date men you meet in a bar, you don't date men at work . . . you basically don't do anything proactive. She signed up for a few dating sites and knocked every single guy off the list.
It turns out that her friend does go to bars to meet guys, even though she has a rule that she will never date men from bars. Then she wonders why she is single. She goes online, hoping to find the same level of alpha as she sees in her hookup guys and then rejects them all, without even meeting them. To be fair, guys around that age on dating sites are as bad as women on dating sites, for different reasons.
His response to her:
Simplest answer is: there aren't many . . . The best ones have been snapped up, like you said. This is why a whole lot of my female clients have troubles. They used to get approached all the time. They learned to brush off guys easily. All of a sudden, they look up and realize that not only are there not too many eligible men left in the dating pool, but they (women over 40) are not the ones that are considered most desirable anymore. Now they have no idea of how to attract a good one as they've spent their whole life pushing them away . . . you have to work much harder. I would try online.
Attractive women think that men will always desire them. They can’t imagine a time when they will not have the upper hand. When the wall hits, they are lost.
Her reply:
I really can't stomach online dating. I feel like I'm part of some woman catalog and my section is on the discount rack. Man: 45. Looking for-Woman: 30-45 and that's the rare gem that has the self awareness to include women his age.
She knows she can’t compare to younger women and there is nothing she can do to make herself young again. It’s interesting how she has absolutely no capacity whatsoever to imagine that a man might want her for something other than her looks and youth. If having a great personality was truly desirable she wouldn’t mind being compared to younger women, because the playing field would be level. Instinctively, she knows it’s not nearly as important as her childbearing potential.
Further down a guy asks how he can meet girls. It turns out he spends his spare time playing online games and going to male-dominated events. Somehow he expects girls to just show up on his doorstep unannounced. Hunt’s reply is:
If you change nothing, nothing will change. You've got to go outside of your comfort zone sometimes if you want to affect change . . . Read How to Win Friends & Influence People. Try talking to everyone when you are out at a party or a bar. Give yourself simple goals like "I'll smile at everyone I pass today." Then, make them harder. Go out to new places. Meet new people. Spend some time writing emails in online dating. Improve yourself. Find a new hobby. Volunteer.
Some more advice for men who want to find a woman to date:
Be a man with a plan. Tell her, “We’re going _____.”
Back when we were hunters and the women were gatherers, our job was to protect and lead. It’s still the same way. Women want a bold man to lead them.
We usually recommend an hour for your first date. Get in, get out, and leave them wanting more.
Make it fun but relaxing and stress-free.
One more example. Some guy asked this question:
What problems do you see most often with the people you coach? Are there any that stand out?
Part of his reply:
For women, it's getting them to unlearn years of bad habits, like brushing off guys and giving the man room to be, well, manly.
Pretty solid advice. Nothing mind-blowing, but as has been noted before, it’s interesting to see Red Pill thinking accepted readily when not packaged as being Red Pill.
