Parents used to teach their kids Red Pill concepts at a young age. Talk to any foreigner or first generation American. I can't be more than 10 years old when my mom started talking about stuff like how sluts make bad wives, youth/beauty/chastity is more important than intellect for young girls looking for relationships, nobody respects men who can't do more than the average woman, some women will pretend to like you because they want your money, men don't like single mothers, etc. Back then, I thought my mom was "uneducated", old school, and racist, and that her stories were only true in other shitty countries, not the great U.S. And she would laugh and say I was naive. Turns out she knows better.

Seriously, ask any old school Asian or Eastern European parent about something like beta bucks, sluts, single mothers, etc. They will rain red pill all day. That is what it used to be like in the U.S. too, so parents did not mind cartoons portraying red pill ideas. They tell their kids that stuff already at a very young age.

It makes me wonder what caused Disney to do a 180°.

Money.

Walt Disney had the original vision for Disney and died in 1966. After that, the company readily stagnated until Michael Eisner, former CEO of ABC, took over in 1984. That was when Disney did a 180, largely because Eisner had no attachment to the vision Walt had and his mandate was to pull Disney out of its 20 year long nosedive. They did that by pandering to women.

As always, instead of blaming women for doing what they do, we should be blaming the men that allow them to do what they do. In this case, Eisner.

It's pretty clear what changed. Look at the opening credits. No women worked in the writing or direction of this episode, and I'll go out on a limb to claim a woman working on these episodes were very rare until 2nd wave feminism popularized / made it ok for women to enter the workforce.

As Disney hired more women, they rose the ranks of the writing and creative departments and used their influence to promote the 'girl power' anti-male propaganda seen in modern day Disney productions like Frozen and Maleficent.

Good video by the way, really distills the disillusion men bring on themselves if they ignore the warning signs (in this case, the weird religious parents and brothers, sailor suitors, constant gold digging, bad cook, her niceness before marriage and being manipulative afterwards). Goes to show getting married is the best way to lose almost all of your power/frame, and sense of livelihood, and even the writers of the time recognized these truths.
