You can't be afraid of being perceived as an asshole. That's not the same as intentionally acting like a jackass.

"If I start treating my wife like shit, she'll start fucking me!" Maybe, or maybe you'll just be pissed off at each other all the time, until the divorce.

If nobody is every angry with you, then you're doing something wrong. If nobody is ever offended, upset, or curious about you, then you're doing something wrong.

Be bold and confident about your needs and desires. It will piss people off some of the time. Don't shy away from it. Don't back down.

This is MRP, not TRP. I see no need to call myself an "asshole" when calling myself a "man" is far more applicable. There is no need to label myself just to make other people happy by fitting me in a box.

If you think you have to be an asshole to be a man, or that a man is an asshole than we have different definitions of what an asshole and man are.

This is what resonates with me the most and Dentyn hits on it in the top comment. None of that other shit matters, you do you. Going full on tucker max has a short ceiling and is not a long term strategy if family/marriage is one of your goals.

Are you strong, stoic, playful, motivated, disciplined, quick-whitted, and emotionally unaffected by dumb shit and happy? If not try harder, if yes keep doing it. The rest is semantics including what word you choose to summarize your traits. It seems like too many people get wrapped up in their identity and forget that embodying the above positive traits will most likely get you whatever you want. You just have to figure out what that is and use the tools accordingly.

On a side note its interesting how even collectively women still don't know what they want or how to get it.

When the wife calls me an asshole, I know I’m on the right path. She gets pissed because she doesn’t have the control she once had; every time she gets to that point of calling me an asshole in anger, she relents shortly after, entering my frame.

My old self was so butt hurt when she would call me names. My new self recognizes it as confirmation I’m on the right path.

Asshole seems to be a relative term. There is nothing wrong with being assertive.but You don't necessarily have to be an asshole to get what you want. I would even say being such can backfire in many situations.

This chicks blog post from 2011 pretty much sums up that you must have Alpha traits to be in the 20% that the 80% are chasing. It's about SMP dynamics in the black community.

She says that black guys failed to adequately control their women, so the black SMP went from patriarchal assertive bonding to matriarchal parteo principle (my interpretation of her piece), while white guys still have somewhat of a clamp down on white womens hypergamy.
