I'm a noob, but from what I've read and my extremely little experience:

All romantic/emotional gestures are beta, but... If you are alpha all the time, you are DHV (good, makes gina tingles), and when the woman shares her emotions for you and you don't reciprocate, then although she will still be sexually attracted to you, she will hold back from expressing herself because of fear of rejection, which means you don't get the best out of her you could, and neither does she. So, though all emotion/romanticism is beta, it can be good to keep not too far behind with whatever level of emotion/romanticism she is displaying herself, so that she feels comfortable enough to express herself, and then also take her emotions to the next level. The important thing with romanticism/emotions is to always let the woman go first, and never go further than where she has gone -- never be more emotional than her (but don't be micromanaging this in your head in the moment, cuz that's beta, instead build this into your character).
