And you’re not busy enough. You’re not removing your physical self enough.

I’m willing to bet you think the idea of stoicism is to sit there and allow the bullshit of the world assault you. I mean sure every school kid knows to not let the bully see him suffer. Suck it up. Be tough.

Trouble is not everyone can do that and in a relationship (personal, professional or otherwise) you just look like an ass. You dropped out. Cut off. And you’re stewing. She knows this you’re all giving her a target of opportunity.

Sure sure you might think you’re slowly showing disinterest but for fuck sake be a human. If she says something stupid or entirely uninteresting look at her and say.

I’m hungry. You?

Throw her off balance. Break her script.

Unless it’s about pizza, beer, or blowjobs. No. You’re not.

She isn’t interested in what you have to say but that you’re engaged. You’re present. You’re removing yourself the wrong way if that’s what you think you are doing. You must do this physically. Reduce the actual target profile otherwise....you’re asking for it.

If you are tired of her whining then leave or just don’t be there at all. Don’t sit there and endure it. That’s bullshit. Stoicism, isn't being tough enough to put on a brave face, nor the ability to endure. Stoicism is many things but in this instance it’s about embracing joy despite the ugliness.

What does this mean to you? It gets mentioned here quite a bit, but the uninitiated tend to confuse it with ignoring people and pretending nothing bothers them, which essentially projects to your wife as pouting.
