In a situation where continued interaction is forced (hair stylist example), embrace silence. Don't feel forced to fill the void. Silence is not awkward for alphas.

In a situation where each party is free to move, why talk for more than 5 to 10 minutes at a time anyway? Move on and see if she follows.

it's tempting to flirt with people whose job it is to serve you. It is easy. But think about the hairstylist - she's trapped with this guy who just. Won't. Stop.

I'd suggest trying it at a mall where women can walk away. "Move on and see if she follows" applies there.

One thing I am is friendly/goofy at the checkout line. I'm not practicing "game" there, as much as quick light social interaction. See if you can make 'em laugh or smile, pay for your stuff, go away.

Read "Day Bang". It's an entire book about this type of stuff.

In real life, I hate to chit chat. Drives me insane. I was born to embrace the silence. The book gives some tips to get random conversations started with strangers.

Reading between the lines, I think what you're asking is: "I can keep up a conversation with a woman for 5-10 minutes by just asking her small talk questions. Then what?"

The answer is much simpler than you imagine. You just say . . . whatever comes to mind. It doesn't matter.

Travel/vacation is usually a fun topic and sometimes you get good recommendations from it. Ask if she's going anywhere for summer vacation, xmas vacation, whatever. Steer it into talking about where you've both travelled. Bonus points if you're well-travelled because she'll find that interesting and fun about you.

You have the approach routine memorized. Great! With lots of alcohol you can turn it into a lay. The next morning it is awkward when you have nothing to say but what the hell, right?

For a longer term interaction it usually helps to actually be an interesting person rather than a guy focused on How To Win Friends and Influence People style "mirroring." After you get her to open up about herself, then you are supposed to tell her about yourself, relating similarities and commonalities to build rapport and comfort.

Also, read The Book of Pook!!! You need to partake of the fountain of youth and not worry about pulling pigtails.

Second. Concrete examples are garbage for you. It's going to depend on your situation. Comment on stuff around you, lead it to a topic you're interested in and see if she has comments. Ask about her interests and relate. 5-10 minutes isn't bad at all. For a random girl that's about adequate time to open the door for a number. You don't want to talk to her forever and give her your life story. Keep some of your mystery.

There's nothing wrong with chatting up someone in retail when you are the customer, but keep in mind that they are working and most likely just being professional -- especially if a tip is involved. Unless you are getting strong signals (repeated kino in non-touch situations, or she's asking if you have a wife/GF), then don't get your hopes up.

On the other hand, when you're "chatting someone up", you should at least have an end goal in mind. Are you actually trying to pick her up, just making small talk to kill the time, or practicing your game for catch and release? Sounds like its the latter -- in which case, why let it hang awkward? Ask about her favorite bands, what she does for fun, or so on -- if you want to practice, then practice.

Just be careful if this is someone you'll interact with again at some point in the future, or you'll have to find a new stylist when she starts to find you creepy.

Talk about what you want when you want. Practice feeling comfortable with intentional silence when you don't feel like speaking anymore. Once you really control a conversation, she will often even feel like any awkwardness is her fault and try to recover. Also remember it's more about how you say it and the status you convey than what you're actually talking about. Amused mastery naturally conveys solid status.

Raising your smv will help a lot too. How much effort would you put into a conversation a low value person is trying to snare you into? Clearly being charming and interesting can help a lot there, but physical appearance can't be ignored. Especially with game.

Difference between creepy and charming is how attractive you are.

As for being "too different" you just need practice. An easy fix is a weekly dance class. Just go in there, don't force conversation if you're not feeling it, be pleasant to be around, amused mastery.

Conversation is easy: just ask questions. People like talking about themselves. I think "Win Friends..." book covers this. Read that.

Don't force tons of conversation up front. Spark it, wait for the response. If the person seems into it, continue asking questions. If they answer but don't really elaborate any more on it, sit for a minute and try another spark. If the disinterested trend continues, just continue the silence. It won't be as awkward if you don't front load the interaction so much.
