It's helpful to embrace it imo. Tall can read as awkward or it can read as graceful. Carry yourself with proper posture (good idea for all of us but especially tall ladies) and dress for your figure. Men love legs, so anything you can do fashion wise to emphasize their length is a great thing. A-Line dresses that emphasize the waist can look so elegant on taller women (although I know they're not everyone's style). And this may be an unpopular opinion but on the subject of legs, don't be afraid of high heels. They make women's legs look great and if that means you're a smidge taller than your date, so what? My man and I are the same height and he still loves a good heel.

I know a woman who works at my company who is almost six feet tall. She used to be a model and looks like Naomi Campbell. She is stunning and feminine. She usually wears sheath dresses or dress pants with a feminine blouse. And heels. She always wears heels. She is easily stands out from everyone else in a good way.

Btw you're gorgeous and I'm jealous of your eyebrows.

I'm 5'10" and have been self-conscious about my height for most of my life. I used to slouch a lot and I would NEVER wear shoes with any type of heel. The older I get the less it seems to matter. Now, I regularly go out with my husband in heels that make me slightly taller than him. He finds it super sexy because they make my legs/butt look great and they give me a confident presence. I think back when we were dating he made some jokes about being attracted to tall women because he always wanted to have tall children. So being tall definitely has its advantages.

What I've learned over the past couple years is that you just have to own it. Stand up straight and carry yourself gracefully and femininely. Play up those long legs with a tasteful miniskirt and some cute 2-3 inch block heel pumps or sandals. I especially love shoes with ankle straps, too. At 5'10" you can also really own skirts/dresses that are "midi" length without them seeming awkward or overwhelming on your frame. And then there's all the typical feminine style advice, like wearing clothes than emphasize your waist, long hair, dangly earrings, etc.

I don't know if this means anything, but I've heard from many friends that I "seem" more petite than I actually am. I think it's just all about how you carry yourself.

Looking feminine has less to do with being tall and more to do with how you carry and present yourself. I like short women. Guess what? I like tall women as well. The important factor is that they're all women and not women pretending to be men.

Edit: Oh, and btw, you look plenty feminine.

A friend of ours is 6’5” and her husband is 6’6” - she has a rare mutation which resulted in her height, but even her sister is 5’10” or so.

In any case, she rocks it confidently and still wears dress pants and blouses for work as an attorney. She wears makeup, her hair is long, gets her nails done and she looks very feminine to me.

5'5 but long legs- what I found helpful was to make your own clothes or custom tailor. Especially if you are slim as well. The stuff at malls just aren't made for our bodies and always ends up looking the wrong shape (because it IS the wrong shape).

EG a normal knee length flare skirt would be A) too awkwardly short B) too big at waist C) not really shape conforming past the bum . So with that in mind, I make a skirt using longer, narrower panels if that makes sense.

Wearing fitting clothes of the right proportion will help by not giving the illusion of too small clothes accentuating your tallness

With a bit of practice tall women can give off a graceful and elegant vibe! Posture is so important, as is dressing for your body type. When I lived in the UK I actually got a personal shopper once and she really opened my eyes to what shapes and cuts and colours I should be wearing, I highly recommend it if you can get someone in your area. Also try to stay healthy and slim and don’t cut your hair short!

I have a very different problem than you. I am average height but have a very large bust (XL) and a slender waist (S-M). At this point, I have given up on wearing any pret-a-porter dresses or blouses if I’m dressing up. Whatever I want off the rack, I get tailored right away. I once had a slender small tailor comment when I insisted on more darts “oh, you want it REALLY tight.” No lady, I just want it to fit my waist the way it would fit on most other women! Tailors are your friends. Find a good one.

I also have invested in more custom clothing. You might check out the website eShakti. At your height, you probably have the problem of dresses, etc. being too short. A dress that would be modest on a 5’2” girl will make you show too much leg. eShakti would let you customize the length of the garment so that it fits you better.

When you figure out what works for you, just run with it. I was watching Tidying Up with Marie Kondo and she commented that she finds shopping difficult because she is so petite things fit poorly. She almost always appears in the show with black leggings and black shoes. This is a way of elongating her legs to make her look less short. (This is the same reason nude heels caught on.) You can probably get away with the opposite (chunky heels might break up your height). But what fascinates me is that Marie Kondo has an unofficial uniform of sorts because she has learned what works for her body. Find whatever works best for you!

5'8", so not too tall but definitely taller than most ladies!!

What is your body type? Are you tall and willowy or curvy? Do you have a discernible waist or are you more rectangular?? Being tall is only one part of your body type. Determine the rest of your frame and that will help you dress in a way that compliments your figure. I'm a high hipped hourglass (an 8 vs X) and I find that pencil dresses always look really really good on me. Mermaid or trumpet styles also really accentuate my curves but keep me completely covered since I tend to feel very uncomfortable in revealing outfits. If I wear heels I usually keep them at about 3 inches since that is a comfortable height for me; I can walk gracefully in them and don't schlep. Good posture is key, especially for us taller ladies. I used to try and hunch to make myself smaller but all I did was make myself look weird. We're tall, so be proud and stand up straight!!

Maybe look to TV, Film, or fashion for inspiration too. A good style favorite of mine is Tahani on The Good Place. The actress and I are approximately the same size and even have a similar hairstyle. Tahani always looks feminine and is in really pretty dresses for the majority of the show. I actually went out and bought a few based on her style.

Also, wear skirt lengths that are comfortable for YOU and you'll be confident. My legs are soooo long (short torso, long legs here) that anything more than an inch above my knee starts to look a little sleazy and I feel uncomfortable in it without tights underneath. If I feel uncomfortable in an outfit, I will hunch over and try to make myself less noticeable and end looking like an oaf. Midi skirts and maxi dresses can look really elegant on taller ladies but rock the minis if you want too!!
