OP, news flash, most girls have herpes and/or HPV. If she's on antivirals and not on an outbreak and you use condoms odds are about 1:40000 you'll get it.

How does she know that she hasn’t had an outbreak in 8 years? She could easily be infected inside and not have realised. Even so, I’m still pretty sure that she can transmit it without having symptoms as the virus lives on the skin.

You may catch it or you may not. The question for you is: is she worth the risk of you catching it, having it for life and dealing with the unknown frequency of outbreaks as well as the stress of whether you disclose it to new partners or not?

herpes is very common, it should actually be the least of your concerns when it comes to STDs

as the medical professional said, it is unlikely to transmit if it is not during an outbreak

and even if you get it, it wont cause you any problems besides appearing every once in a while, during which you can just chill and not have sex

If I was you I would appreciate the honesty and then forget about it. Your chances of getting it are probably very low. You've probably been with girls who have genital herpes before without knowing it. 8 years without an outbreak she's likely to never have an outbreak again. Don't be paranoid because worst worst case, if you were to get it, it would not be the end of the world. I have oral herpes and forget about it except when I have an outbreak once a year I don't kiss my gf, that's it.

I would keep fucking her, but then I don't think herpes is a big deal. It's very common, so you will limit yourself way too much if you worry about it. Hell, if you have a strong immune system you won't have outbreaks and then the only bad thing about herpes is the social stigma, and you can go around that by not disclosing it. If it makes you feel better don't even get yourself tested for herpes; that way you have plausible deniability.
