"A Chronological List of Thirsty Guys without Options''

[–]ryeprotagonist 63 points64 points65 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Why do I come away with the feeling like that last guy, the one who she is marrying who is also the first boy she kissed, watched her from the sidelines for years like a Nice Guy Beta Bux?

My understanding is that they do, there are different strains, and you don't want to go around collecting them.

Besides, don't something like 80% of the population have herpes? I thought it wasn't a big deal.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The different strain thing is HIV, not herpes. There are two types of herpes, type I and II. HSV-1 is oral and HSV-2 is genital. Prevalence also correlates with socioeconomic status.

The 50-80% (50% for rich going up to 80% for poor) figure is including oral herpes which is way more common than genital. The proportion for genital is more around 18% for the general population, being higher (~25% for poor and down to ~10 for rich).

When it comes down to it, it is an incurable STD that will mark you for life and leave you undesirable for anyone with options. While the virus itself isn't a huge deal besides getting a painful outbreak once or twice, the effect it will have on your status is definitely there.

[–]1mr_throwz 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can have HSV-1 on your genitals. You generally get 1 bad first outbreak and a couple of minor subsequent outbreaks over the course of 1-3 years and then you might get a couple of very minor outbreaks each decade.

You can have herpes and never have a single outbreak but still spread it to others.

[–]1PaulRivers10 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The different strain thing is HIV, not herpes.

I don't think so. The different strain thing isn't herpes either though, it's genital warts, their's over 100 different strains.

The thing about the 50-80% of the population with oral herpes is that you transmit that by kissing or sharing a drink.

[–]chakravanti93 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It' all viruses. Virii have DNA. It is why humans have DNA. Strain concerns exist for HIV, HSV, and Warts.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I have herpes zoraster! And you probably do too! :)

[–]LegalPusher 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think you meant herpes zoster, unless there is a form of herpes related to Zoroastrianism?

In any case, people young enough to be vaccinated probably don't. The rest of us have to worry about shingles.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The shingles were bad, but I survived them.

[–]dicklord_airplane 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

some of us are very lucky that we weren't born with any form of herpes and that we haven't picked it up yet. I'd really prefer to keep it that way, and I've passed on girls in the past for this reason. sluttiness will give you ugly diseases whether you're male or female. if you want to have kids and don't already carry any strains of herpes, then i think that it would be in your future children's best interest to choose a woman who also does not carry it.

[–]1PaulRivers10 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

some of us are very lucky that we weren't born with any form of herpes and that we haven't picked it up yet.

Statistically it's far more likely that you have it, and you got lucky that you don't get any symptoms.

[–]dicklord_airplane 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

i got tested for basically every STD besides hepatitis a couple years ago, and I specifically asked to test for all types of herpes because you're right; people who carry herpes often don't show symptoms. i actually am one of the lucky ones.

neither of my parents carry herpes because neither of them slept around a lot. I've greatly benefited from their good judgement, and more importantly, I haven't spread permanent diseases to my partners. the age-old wisdom about promiscuity still holds true, as annoying as it is.

[–]scarfox1 15 points16 points17 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Lol and one of them stayed friends with her for 4 years? maybe he felt bad.

[–]dmt267 22 points23 points24 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or maybe just a beta bitch.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Maybe its because i do have a strain of it (ie i get cold sores, never anything downstairs, have done all my life) but i tend to draw a line between "Herpes" and "Cold sores"

I realise that they're caused by the same virus, but when someone says to me they have Herpes im going to assume its the full blown genital variety, not the occasional cold sore which is only ever on the lip.

If its full blown - GTFO, sorry but you're getting nowhere near me. If its occasional cold sores - Fine so long as they dont have any at that very moment.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

They are not caused by the same virus. Its two different strains. HSV-1 is oral herpes which 50 - 80% of the population have. No reason to feel about oral. Its obviously better not to have but no one really gives a shit, you can get it by sharing drinks.

HSV-2 is genitial herpes which 10- 25% of the population have. It is also associated with socioeconomic status (poor people more likely to have it).

Although oral herpes can be transfer to the genital area, so don't get blowjobs from chicks with cold sores. Its perfectly fine to fuck them if they have cold sores, but just make sure there are no sores by the vag. Thinking about it, just avoid cold sores as well.

[–]1sailorJery 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

HSV-1 can be transferred onto your genitals, ask me how I know.

[–]1mr_throwz 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

HSV-1 can be transferred onto your genitals, ask me how I know.

It can be transmitted genital-genital too.

[–]1sailorJery 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

well yes, but I was trying to shed some light on the misinformation here. I would hope people know that an STD can be transmitted genital to genital.

[–]1mr_throwz 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The auto-moderator faggot likes to delete every post I make, but I just wanted to say: I have met people who didn't realize HSV-1 can be on your genitals, and get transmitted genital-genital. A scary number of people, I might add.

[–]CarlsPudding 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

My ex wife used to try to blow me when she had open sores the size of a small island on her lip. One of the many ways in which she was directly out of her fucking mind.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sounds like you had a lucky escape.

[–]CarlsPudding 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You say lucky, I say smart. Either way I escaped, so there's that.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

HSV1 and 2 both can cause cold sores and/or genital sores. HSV1 predominates in the mouth while 2 predominates in the genitals but it's like 80/20 and is increasing as oral sex becomes more accepted. If you want to be safe, avoid all sores, but imo that's too safe and we should be having sex with people with active lesions as herpes is such a small deal for guys and gals

[–]randomkloud -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

HSV-2 is genitial herpes which 10- 25% of the population have. It is also associated with socioeconomic status (poor people more likely to have it).

(not directed at you particularly, just for others who read this thread)

while this is true you have to be very careful with statistics like this. Keep in mind that this does NOT mean poverty causes HSV-2 infections or you (or anyone else you're fucking) are immune because you're upper middle/upper class.

edit:words

[–]JAK11501 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Wanted to point out that all because you get cold sores does not mean you have herpes HSV-1. I get "cold sores" very rarely (once per year maybe) and yet I took a blood test that indicated negative HSV-1 and negative HSV-2.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's odd, what causes the sores then, did they say?

[–]JAK11501 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Dr. didnt say for sure BC it resolved before I saw him. He said it could have been a canker sore or I just bit my cheek/burned my cheek while eating.

Point is having a cold sore doesn't mean herpes

[–]mutualaid 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cold sores are exterior, not inside your mouth. Sounds like what you have isn't cold sores.

[–]thebears1986 28 points29 points30 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The first girl who told me she had herpes was a borderline slumpbuster. I told her "this isn't going to work" which is a shame because she gave awesome blowjobs.

The second one was good looking so I said, "Do you have anal herpes?" She said she doesn't like anal. That was the end of that. She did not give a good blowjob.

The third girl I met in a bar, got her number, and we went out a week later. In the meantime 2 cold sores developed on her lips. We had a couple beers at the bar because why not, I'm already out. Nothing after that and she wondered why. Sorry, you aren't going near my dick with that.

I get it. Herpes isn't a death sentence. Many people have cold sores. Doesn't change that I don't want them. I feel for the people who rolled the dice and lost but those the breaks.

Did you mean to respond to my comment? That's exactly what I wrote. Not having sex with herpes girls and all.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You are probably more likely to get herpes through anal than regular sex.

[–]thebears1986 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not when herpes isn't there.

[–]southernmost 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You must not be familiar with asymptotic viral shedding.

[–]WAFC 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Herpes is still there in that case.

[–]Drogoe13 points 12 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

One can only imagine the quality of these poor bastards-- and her. Anyone else pick up a fat chick vibe?

"I cried!" litters every sentence, tacky. "We cried", 4th date. Ugh. No condoms after HIV test, clever! Christ some people are retards.

That said, I have sincere pity for people with the herp; the social stigma is out of whack with the physical significance of the disease. Still, any man with options will minimise his risk.

[–]SHUT_UP_little_man 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I immediately jumped to fat chick when she mentioned the mumu.

[–]Endorsed ContributorBluepillProfessor 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So her orbiter "won the prize" in the end by waiting around, thirsty for attention or any bone she might deign to throw his way.

"Sweet and understanding....getting married...first boy I kissed."

All right one and all place your bets, place your bets. What week of the marriage will she cut off almost all of her diseased, bumpy, pustule laden sex with this chump (except for one ovulation and one pity fuck every month)? My bet is on the honeymoon but the sex on demand may even last for a month. Shouldn't be a problem for Beta Boy- he already qualified himself for this treatment for years.

[–]1Jaereth 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So, i've been highly ridiculed in other areas of reddit for suggesting I wouldn't want to sleep with a girl if she told me she had genital herpes. I'm glad this sub is taking quite a different approach to it.

[–]Sturmgeist781 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Fuck you for not wanting an STD right?

[–]Blood_Vaults 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You cisgendered shitpig. submit to our filth or else in the name of tolerance

[–]1Jaereth 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Right. They all say "it's no big deal these days, everyone has it". Yeah ok... Try telling the next girl your about to sleep with. "Oh by the way..." See how not a big deal it is.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, the least consequencial thing would be pubic lice. You can get rid of them by just shaving, you don't even have to use something OTC.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't shave I love my balls to much, does trimming work?

[–]LegalPusher 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nope, they would grab onto any significant amount of hair. Lice shampoo would work, also suffocating them with a lot of oil-based lube...

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'll go with the twice a year sores, thank you very much

[–]1raceAround126 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Wow... I don't think that, even at my most desperate, I'd still go for a girl with an STD.

But hey, at least (most of the time it seems) she was up front about it.

[–]1raceAround126 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True. There's not much you can do about deception. Other than just get to know the kind of girl you're with. And if you're worried go and get tested! That's all there is to it.

[–]LegalPusher 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Or they can use an app to hook up with people who have the same STD. Herpr?

[–]Blood_Vaults 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This. This is a monument to eternal thirst.

'It was the fourth date. He had a smile that made my stomach dip. The night before had ended in a fully clothed sleepover and I knew it was time to tell him. It took a half hour, and his forehead got more and more creased with worry as he wondered what it could be. When I finally said it, a look of relief crossed his face. “It’s 2009,” he said. Three days later we broke his bed.'

Yes, it's 2009, it's easier than ever to access contraception, protection, and educate yourself about how to have safe sex and this bitch still manages to fail that part. Excellent logic there sparky

[–]joe_bruised_ego 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So not only do you risk catching herpes, you get to have your performance and size mocked as well! What a catch.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Who cares? It's herpes. Most or almost most of us are going to get it unless we settle down. Accept it and move on. This should be like the #30 thing on your list of qualities in a partner, in between how her grandma looks and what breed of dog she grew up with.

Most people have at least some form anyway. I was born with a strain but no one cares because it's not one of the ones people freak out about.

[–]Felonessthrowaway -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You can't be born with HSV. You were infected shortly after birth.

[–]1FloranHunter 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

wrong

[–]Felonessthrowaway 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wow I guess you are right. It's EXTREMELY rare though. Your mother would have had to be infected with herpes the last trimester of her pregnancy for this to happen. Sounds like a gross scenario. I'm not totally sure that it in fact does occur within the womb since HSV is ether present in the skin or in the nerves. I would love to see a study done on this topic for more proof. Most of the literature doesn't actually state that the infection happens "in the womb" but more likely it happens as the baby is going down the birth canal which makes more sense.

[–]1FloranHunter 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Haha yeah. Truth is you're probably right. I'm just pretty sure I didn't fuck anyone before I turned 7.

[–]Felonessthrowaway 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Most people assume that since HSV is a STD that it is exclusively transmitted through sexual contact. Not true. HIV is a STD too but it can be transmitted via blood transfusion.

[–]DaphneDK 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think something like 80% of the population has it.

[–]1kingofpoplives 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think it's more like 20-25%, but 80% of the people who have it don't know they have it. It's basically guaranteed that someone who posts a comment along the lines of "ewwww herpes, would never touch a girl who had that" actually has it themselves and is unaware.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I read an epidemiology study a few months ago showing HSV2 prevalence around 50% in the single 40+ population due to all the sleeping around. Just another thing our generation has to look forward too.

found a decent meta analysis for those interested. It stratifies by age, race, gender, ethnicity, continent, etc.

[–]snobocracy 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's basically guaranteed that anyone who would say that would fall into a 16% to 20%* subsection of the population?
