Fat men = beta 80%ers

Beta 80%ers -> apex fallacy -> women don't know they exist.

Women aren't aware of their existence -> they must not have issues worth caring about.

holy shit, that is heavy man.

not a heavy man, but like....that's just heavy to think about.

imagine going through life like that...talk about living life on God-mode difficulty.

To bad it's impossible to become not fat.....

TRT + HGH once you get into your 40's-50's + going to the gym, heard it works but most people wouldn't be cool with fucking with their endocrine systems.

Preach it.

[–]wakingslowdiver 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Men are just harder to find, cause they're probably more likely to actually feel ashamed or trying to change their situation. To be fair to them, they've tried:

"In terms of the absence of males in the trailer for the film, we will have men in the feature. We want to add men and we will! When we sent our our first requests for interviews before our trailer was ready - these women were the experts who were willing to interview with us.

To be clear: We are already lining up men to interview and we know men face fat-shaming and fat hatred too!

We love all people, of all sizes and we just want to see people treated justly. If you read our kickstarter details you will see that we reference both men and women and we will ABSOLUTELY be including men in the feature film."

Yep and my university offers fat acceptance classes as well. I've wanted to go and sit in on a class sometime for giggles.

[–]Modified_Hackware 35 points36 points37 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Please go - If I had the opportunity to go I would - I'm genuinely curious as to what gets said in these places.

[–][deleted] 41 points42 points43 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do it and make the report here.

[–]the_real_chronos 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

How that class got approved is beyond me. Seriously, where the fuck is the Biology faculty?

[–]Humansteaks03 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I completely agree. I think it's part of the gender/ethnic studies major or whatever the fuck they're calling it.

[–]Lipophobicity 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hamplanet professor: "I'd like to start a fat acceptance class as a 200 level credit"

Biology Department Head: "I really don't see..."

HP: "You bigot, why are you okay fatshaming?"

BDH: "Fine, whatever, just waddle out of here"

[–]vaker 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That money could have paid for medical research or something else useful.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do it, record these events, then mock then endlessly under a pseudonym of sorts.

I'd donate to this cause.

You know how many gym memberships you could get for $41K?

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points27 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

You don't even need a gym membership to stay in shape. Between cardio and body weight exercises, you can have a fitness center that costs nothing.

It's amazing to me how these people put so much effort into trying to change society to work for them. It speaks to levels of entitlement I could barely imagine.

[–]Endorsed Contributorgekkozorz 12 points13 points14 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Just get a treadmill and some free weights on Craigslist, clear out an old room you're not using, and boom, you can burn hundreds of calories a day at minimal effort and cost.

Still not as easy as getting your flaw "accepted" by society though, I guess.

[–]friestogo 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I enjoy the camaraderie at my gym though. And if you're going heavy you can easily get a spot.

They'll never get this accepted. Humans find unattractive things unattractive for a physiological reason. Dying early isn't hot.

[–]cipahs 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cardio pffftt you mean no gains

[–]t21spectre 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The wouldn't go to the gym even if it was free. Might as well just put the money in a bag and throw it at the receptionist at said gym for all the good it'd do.

[–]scaleygun 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably 2-3 after looking at gym prices after coming back home from college for the summer.

[–]BustaHymes 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not being fat is a simple matter of eating less. Actually eating less, not just every now and then, which is what fatties do.

First and foremost, fatties are gluttons. Their sloth is only making it worse.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 22 points23 points24 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One should counter this by making a film about Jen Davis instead - a woman slightly on the chubbier side with 270 lbs until she decided that losing one third of her weight was a good idea:

*When Davis was 23, her work took a turn: Reading through her old journals, she was struck by the fact that her grievances—being overweight, missing out on romantic love—had been the same for years. [...] And then, in the spring of 2011, during a photography residency in Syracuse, New York, while Davis was reviewing her portfolio—dozens of portraits blown up and hung on the wall—she was struck with the same feeling of horror she'd felt reading through her journals when she was 23. "In ten years, my body hadn't really changed, and I hadn't changed, either," she says. [...] Davis has not only adjusted to a new lifestyle but dedicated herself utterly to it. She has revamped her diet—eating mindfully (without distractions like the computer), avoiding simple carbohydrates, enjoying the feeling of filling up on nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables. She also hits the gym twice a week for cardio and weights, and does Pilates twice a week at home.

Davis had always assumed she'd die young when she was obese and a heavy smoker, and on some level, she was okay with that. Now she shudders to recall that feeling of indifference. There's so much to live for—including the thrill of going on first dates. "I'm 34, and I've never had a boyfriend," she says with a wistful smile. "I have a lot to learn."*

Instead of preaching fat acceptance, they should give cases like hers coverage: Being obese is not healthy, it will drain you empty, and it will severely handicap your dating life.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

They say that there is no correlation between fat and unhealthy in that intro. That is complete bullshit, the rate of diabetes among obese people is testimony towards that.

Perhaps they are talking about slightly overweight people. There is no correlation between slightly overweight and negative health issues. So perhaps they are right we should change our attitudes towards the word fat.

Leave slightly overweight people to be chubby and fat for the truly lazy unhealthy beasts. It is also strange on the one hand they are saying people shouldn't care if someone is fat (I agree with that actually) but in the same breath then make excuses for why they are fat. So what is it?

Being fat is unhealthy end of story. You want to reduce your lifespan and have a sadder life go right ahead all power to you I don't give a shit. When you try and make a video getting people to think that fat has no health consequences you are being delusional and can actually harm peoples health.

[–]monsieurhire2 21 points22 points23 points 12 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

It is great . . . if you are a healthcare professional looking to make money off of treating diabetes, or an orthopedic surgeon who can make money on knee and foot surgeries, or a restaurant owner who makes money selling oversized portions, or a textile manufacturer, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. It's all about what your POV is! Everything is relative! Wheeeeeee!!!!!!!!

[permanently deleted]

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Basically what the above said. There's already enough dick people, I doubt doctors really want to see more. Restaurant owners in the other hand probably can't get enough.

[–]monsieurhire2 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Well, don't they have to check their blood sugar, go on drugs, get check-ups, see the doctors, etc.? Healthy people make the worst patients. If everyone practiced preventative medicine, lots of doctors would have to close their practices.

[–]monsieurhire2 -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I have no clue how it works? Lolololol.

What if everyone lived a really healthy life, and then just suddenly dropped dead? Would the healthcare industry make money that way? No, they wouldn't. You're whining about how diabetes patients aren't ideal patients, but what if you didn't have ANY patients like that at all?

If civilization were optimized for public health, there wouldn't be nearly as much money in medicine as when it is designed to produce a perpetually stressed out, sickened population.

[–]monsieurhire2 -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Ah yes, the whole "appeal to self-proclaimed authority" argument. If I had an MD only then could I make credible arguments. Do you have any idea how many quack snake-oil selling doctors I've seen? They prey on people's ignorance and superstitious worship of their white uniform, but most are hacks who take their marching orders from the drug companies.

Why would ANYONE need an MD to understand a simple supply and demand argument. If everyone is healthy, they don't go to doctors. There is no demand for doctor services. Sure, diabetics may not be ideal patients, but they are patients, there's a lot of them, and they require continual treatment. If you haven't learned to bloodsuck properly, that's your problem.

[–]monsieurhire2 -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I'm aware that the insurance companies only pay a third of what the doctors bill them. And I'm also aware of doctors tripling their billing to get their due. But that has nothing to do with the VERY SIMPLE ARGUMENT that I made. You're making a complex argument to distract and shift attention away from the fact that a healthy civilization doesn't need as many doctors as sickly one. What's so hard about that? Healthy people don't go and see doctors. People in general, if they are smart, try to avoid going to doctors. They didn't use to be called "croakers" for nothing. Instead, you're babbling on about how certain patients are problematic.

[–]monsieurhire20 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yes, believe it or not I do understand all that. But my ORIGINAL argument was that there is more money to be made in medicine with a perpetually unhealthy civilization than a healthy one. That's it. That's my argument. Some people are making money off of diabetic. Most likely people who sell them drugs, medical devices, and tests. Other people aren't making as much money. But not making that much money is better than making no money. People who are getting paid jack shit can always organize and intrigue to get paid more. Or they can find another line of work.

[–]t21spectre 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Dude, dude... we could open a nation wide chain of buffets with moving sidewalks like they have at the airport. You wouldn't even need to walk to get your 4th cheesecake. Or better yet, the food comes to you like a sushi place with those little conveyer belts, but instead of spring rolls you have plates of pizza, fries, burgers, cakes, pies... you name it. Then we could use the moving sidewalks from the door to the table then back again.

Oh, and we'll name it something catchy like "The Trough" or "The Feed Bad"

We're gonna be so rich!

[–]PaperDesk 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The best part is that one of the awards is they won't let you use it for educational purposes until you give like 200 dollars. They don't give a shit about Fat Acceptance worldwide, they just want to get paid. The best part is that all the creators are fat women.

[–]ManowaR1488 17 points18 points19 points 12 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I'm a fat guy who is constantly fighting it, yo-yoing from in shape to fat again...This kind of thing insults me. There is nothing to be gained from being unhealthy.

[–]friestogo 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Start a strength training program, eat clean and consume less calories than you expend. That's really all you need to remember. It's difficult but it's worth it in the end.

[–]cascadecombo 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

That sort of thing is very easy to say but takes dedication and a lot of will power to continue.

That being said, you're 100% right and it really is just that simple. Also, cutting down / off the booze helps a lot as well.

[–]friestogo 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well I've been doing that for nearly a year now, put on about 28 lbs. of mostly muscle, just started a cut. It's a little difficult at first but I wanted it really bad so motivation wasn't an issue for me. After a while it just becomes a lifestyle.

You're certainly right about the booze. I quit drinking 4 months and had to up the amount of food I ate by quite a lot so I could keep gaining weight. Feel great though, I'm way fitter, wallet is a little heavier and thinking back on the awful hangovers I used to endure makes me really glad I quit.

[–]cascadecombo 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I'm in the process of shedding down the last 7 kilos I want to to be in the shape I desire.

Taking a extended break from booze and really enjoying waking up in the mornings with no headache and money still in the wallet.

For fun I'd like to start one for thin acceptance, I bet it would get media coverage from outraged feminists

[permanently deleted]

[–]chakravanti93 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They'de do it too.

[–]t21spectre 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And they have to constantly complain and be over emotional about how hard being thin is

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The arguments in this video were absolutely insane:

"We can send a man to the moon but we can't design a plane safely for human beings? (with regard to fat people having to pay more for airline seats)"

It's not that we CAN'T design such a plane, it's that such a plane is far less economically advantageous for the airline.

"When you are calorie deficient, you lose cognitive ability. Therefore, the reason society encourages women to stay skinny is so men can stay in control of them"

It implies that skinny people must be calorie deficient when that is not necessarily the case. Furthermore, it implies that our culture only targets fat women when it clearly it targets all fat people.

[–]t21spectre 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Planes do have bigger seats, it's called First Class

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True... but they want an economy class option for fat people... which is simply not economically feasible for the airlines. Running an airline is already playing with tight margins... forcing airlines to make all the seats bigger to comply with the fact most people are overweight is ridiculous.

[–]1sam_ba_lam 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"We can send a man to the moon but we can't design a plane safely for human beings? (with regard to fat people having to pay more for airline seats)"

And this same "human being's" other complaint is the hypocrisy of the media for presenting healthy lifestyle yet cooking shows (eat this). That is what media does; present media and choice, not ultimatums.

Her wheezing hamster has absolved her of the responsibility for her actions where the onus is on society to accept her obesity as people can be HAES.

Fattitude will be funded by fatties for fatties as an XXL circle jerk. You go, whales gurls! I'd watch it for the laughs and cringe effect.

[–]bitchdantkillmyvibe 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol, and people criticise me for associating the fat acceptance movement with the female gender. Look at every single person associated with that doco.

[–]Super_Positive 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Studies have shown that when you are calorie deficient you are not as cognitively active than you would be otherwise, so it's a way of weakening women and keeping them focused on something irrelevant so they can't be as powerful in the world.

Yuuuuup. The skinny woman ideal is not because its incredibly attractive to see a thin woman, but because its the patriarchy oppressing them and keeping them nutrient deprived and stupid.

This is the typical solopsistic, victim mentality that feminists utilise - "Its society, not the individual" , "They're (notice how they dont say it, but imply that only men are to blame as a whole) shaming us for being lazy fat fucks, quick, lets change the definition of attractive because I'm too lazy to change my body.

Fat acceptance literally baffles me, here in Australia it doesn't seem to be much of a problem as fat women are generally pitied. (Fat men are invisible to women, so they don't care).

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

anyone notice how harder is to have to constantly try to get people to find fat attractive than it is to just lose the fucking weight

[–]t21spectre 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Complaining is easier than taking action, don't you have a Facebook page? Sheese....

[–]wakingslowdiver 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the funniest shit I've seen all week!

What the flying fuck?

"the word fat, it should be illegal to call someone fat!!!"

"It's a cultural thing that fat is unhealthy"

Lol this is too funny, Americans really think like this?? Let me tell you, being a fat girl in the Netherlands is like being an omega male. They don't have an attitude here. If they made a documentary like that here, nobody would watch it, and everybody would just tell them to lose weight cause it's unhealthy.

But I guess if your nation consists of 50% fatties they sort of take over.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If being fat was actually great, there wouldn't need to be a movie about it. People would just know it.

[–]Senior Contributorexit_sandman 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being fat isn't great, but getting there obviously is...

[–]Hughtub 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I bet every Machiavellian butter face in the country is giving money towards this, which gets rid of their borderline fat competition.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Making people fat is one way to rob them of their power, for sure, if you want a dependant, weak, population, having them all fat doesn't hurt. Having people well nourished and in-shape is not in the interest of the ruling elite. Fitter people are not just healthier physically, but have more mental clarity too. Lugging all that weight around is tiring. It's humorous to see the extents they'll go to here to try and make this kind of bullshit socially acceptable.

[–]cruxae 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't see how they can compare race and being fat...

They keep saying, oh it doesn't matter if you're fat or black or white...whaaat?

You can't control what race you are, but you can control whether you're a whale or not.

However putting being seriously over weight on a pedestal like it is a good thing is ridiculous. There should be more normal looking role models on TV but don't try to dictate what anyone should find beautiful or attractive.

Pedals tool?

[–]DarkCircle 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wrong spelling + autocorrect. Pedestal I meant.

This disgusts me something chronic.

Background, I lost a tonne of weight. It's taken me four years, I'm in a healthy shape now, turned my attention to building muscle and I'm in the best shape and look the best I have ever done in my life. That's coming from a point in life where I was having trouble fitting into the driving seat of most vans!

I blame my terrible weight for causing so many other problems - partially my ex not liking sex with me, failures at work, being written off by the fat funny one by friends.

I worked on this shit. It's taken four dedicated years to get to where I am and I'm still not done.

I walk around these days, and I physically find fat people utterly disgusting. I can't bear to talk to them. I don't know what it is, it's hypocritical for one. Utterly so. But the other day, I was at lunch, made my tuna salad and these three fat people (two women one guy) were tucking into all manner of microwaved lasagne crap, crisps, coke and all that shit. I had to take my food and eat somewhere else they made me that sick.

To see crap like this, it just boils me over. Fat acceptance is unacceptable! Wholly unacceptable. It enables these people to maintain very unhealthy lifestyles and excuse their obvious depression which goes hand in hand with being overweight and looking unattractive. If you feel unattractive and feel there's nothing you can do, it does equal depression.

How this crap is getting funded is beyond me! I mean, surely the fat bastards paying into this kickstarter should instead be spending the money on a gym membership? Or a pair of trainers to just start walking around the block in? I mean, every start is small... but it's a fucking start?

Not really. Like a friend of my parents who finally quit smoking after over 20 years has said: Ex-smokers are the most insufferable people when it comes to other people lighting a cigarette.

Why shouldn't it be the same about reformed chubbies?

The Fat Acceptance movement is just a giant excuse for women to not hit the gym and self-improve. Gluttony Glamorized. Most of these girls are in their 20's. Let's see how much you love being a fat tubby pg when you're 40 and diabetic and hypertensive and even low-value males don't wanna shove it in ya. Then you go lesbian because any and all male interest has dried up.

I have no problem with fat women, but if they expect me a decent looking fit male to choose their fat asses as a sexual partner over a woman that isn't? Then either they are stupid, or incredibly lazy to actually believe this shit.

I can't wait to watch this comedic gold.

I have a theory why thin beautiful women will support this:

It destroys any competitors, why would a pretty woman want other women to lose weight and be a threat to her.

Hilarious! The movie should be sponsored by the makers of chocolate chip cookies and ice cream.

Oh, who cares.

We had tigers, cougars and lions in the past. Now, there's diabetes, stroke, infarction and many more.

"Let the God sort them out" :-)
