Very soon we're going to hear women (and men) shrieking all over the news about how misogynistic this is.

[–]IRC Mod-Anteros- 48 points49 points50 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Men?
I don't think that word means what you think it means.

[–]pcadrian11 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Haha good point

[–]TRP VanguardHumanSockPuppet 15 points16 points17 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I hearby coin the term "rape-apps".

[–]FortunateBum 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reality is misogynistic.

[–]PoopSmearMoustache 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The misogynistic label is a great way to show people the war that exists between the sexes.

It seems to suggest a man's ideal state should be to love or respect women more than themselves, or at least equally without each individual woman ever being required to prove they deserve it.

Where as the relationship system is mainly centred around a men continually proving to a woman they deserve their love or respect.

[–]updock 62 points63 points64 points 12 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

It's shitty both ways.

[–]pcadrian24 points 12 years ago* [recovered] (7 children) | Copy Link

I agree. Trying to augment human mating with technology already has bad effects with the popularization of online dating, but this is just taking it on a whole new level. People who have no sense of responsibility will be using these apps as sex warfare.

popularization of online dating

Online dating is fine and simplifies the process considerably. The problem doesn't arise from online dating itself, but from the instant-gratification "liking" culture websites such as Instagram and Facebook provide. All a moderately attractive female needs to do is upload a picture of themselves and they'll be showered with neckbearded beta-orbiters attention to fuel their ego with.

[–]pcadrian10 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Online dating does simplify the process, but one of the problems is that most guys who use it rely on it as the sole way of meeting women, and never develop the skills to meet women in real life.

I know because I've done this. I used to send 20-30 messages a day, built my own template and reused it again and again, then wait for reply. While I had successes, it didn't take any real skill. I wasn't growing or building any confidence. That only started changing when I started approaching women in real life, and stared both success and (more importantly) failure in the eye.

Another issue is that many women are becoming so comfortable with online dating nowadays, that they become less open to being approached on the street. Sure, a lot of this has to do with the guy's skill level, but how else are guys supposed to learn? You can see this in yesterday's discussion on TRP ("/r/toronto discovers group of men practicing cold approaches at the mall..."), and the reaction people have to real life approaches.

The whole "instant-gratification culture" problem is encouraged by online dating and the dynamic it sets: women getting tons of attention from guys, and guys sending all the messages. There are even women who set up profiles just for that reason, without any real intention to go on a date.

whats wrong with sex welfare

[–]pcadrian0 points 12 years ago* [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Nothing if that's how you want to live your life. But at the end of the day, that makes you no better than a raging feminist.

[–]PlasticDickBag -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

i meant warfare, just saying. we as a movement need to understand that we're under constant attack, and be ready to fight back. freedom is freedom, it's not only for "womyn"

[–]gg_s 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I recognize your point as a rallying cry around TRP, but you're taking "warfare" out of context to make it. TRP is a mindset, not a movement.

[–]PlasticDickBag 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

...for now

[–]deville05 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

yes it is.. but women wont understand the negative side effects of anything unless it affects them also. talking and debating doesnt help. leveling the playing field is the only way to knock sense into everybody

[–]updock 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You're either better, or you're on the same level. You can't be both.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If the goal is to incite change, unfortunately you need the women to be on board. Ego is great, but can really get in the way of actually doing something about this.

[–]czarputin[S] 93 points94 points95 points 12 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

This was posted on r/Technology yesterday, but was removed due to it being "inappropriate" content.

Feminist B.S.

[–]Robert_Walker35 points 12 years ago [recovered] (19 children) | Copy Link

Inappropriate. That is an amazing stance for a website that allows /r/spacedicks amongst other things.

Meanwhile, it took 20 seconds to find two posts of Lulu in /r/technology ...

[–]czarputin[S] 27 points28 points29 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I know. That's what I told the mod and in short, he just blocked me without even trying to hear me out.

You should have seen all the feminist and white knight comments on there. They probably complained and got not only the submission removed, but also ALL of the comments that were in support of the app.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Guess SRS infected that sub as well. Damn shame.

[–]jobs33ker 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

/r/technology is the bedrock of this website.. that's pretty much where it all started. And just like all the mainstream subreddits , it has been infected to the core

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Bet it was cool when all the feminists were still buzzing around digg

[–]jobs33ker -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

can you remind me what happened with digg and reddit? something like the digg users getting fed up and a mass exodus to reddit...

[–]lodhuvicus 24 points25 points26 points 12 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

an amazing stance for a website that allows /r/spacedicks amongst other things.

Since when is /r/technology all of Reddit? I don't agree with the decision, but what you said is completely irrelevant.

[–]Robert_Walker-6 points 12 years ago [recovered] (9 children) | Copy Link

We view the issue differently. Not irrelevant.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It is irrelevant because you are choosing to ignore that each subreddit has it's own individual rules and moderators. You should REALLY think of each subreddit as a separate website.

[–]lodhuvicus -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I find it very telling that Rob has no response to this when he's taken the time to respond to my posts.

Edit: and only responds when called out on it.

[–]Robert_Walker-4 points 12 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I know what you mean. Reddit REALLY IS one website and I'm referring to the larger picture of it being acceptable to censor practically (not actually) on a whim, being much more broad than just this subject.

I take your point though, I see what you mean and agree. You see what I mean right?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can definitely understand your point and I hate censorship as much as the next guy.

[–]lodhuvicus 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I take your point though, I see what you mean and agree. You see what I mean right?

"Please??? Can someone agree with me??? Look! I even agree with you!"

[–]Robert_Walker-1 point 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

You're really hung up on this "what people think of other people" thing.

I mean what I say. Fuck me, right?

[–]lodhuvicus 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Are you really this stupid? You're saying "well that's just like your opinion man" in the face of facts.

[+]Robert_Walker -6 points-5 points-4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Move on Charlie. Thanks for contributing.

[–]lodhuvicus 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Move along. You are threatening my ignorance."

[–]TechnoL33T -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

What's lulu?

edit: nvm

[–]Traz_Onmale -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Those posts are disapproving though.

[–]Robert_Walker 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a good point. I'd be interested to see whether the threshold of approving comments before the subject is pulled differs between the two.

[–]TheHumanite 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wish you were kidding.

[–]Clauderoughly 21 points22 points23 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As long as it has a "slut rating" or "cocks over time" graph so you can spot the "empowered" women

[–]PolegarVermelho10 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Tubby, the lulu for men that was being developed by Brazilians, turned out to be some poor trolling attempt to raise awareness about the objectification of the wommyn.

Or so they say. After the huge backslash by the media and the justice system, I want to believe that they had to shut the whole thing down giving a excuse or else risk a witch-hunt.

[–]DavidTIntellectual 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

FabSwingers already does this, although it's not limited to men rating women. In fact single males are kinda treated as second class citizens in the swinging/casual sex community but I digress.

[–][deleted] 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]autoNFA 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Anyone else could lie about that to spite someone they don't like, though, same as Lulu.

[–]MonkeySteriods 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think this whole online person rating bullshit/and gossiping is stupid for both genders. Its not healthy and people need to call that shit out. I miss the 90s where everyone had less options for communication. If you wanted to meetup with someone you had to make plans, if a person regularly didn't follow up with the plans they were universially known to be unreliable.

[–]fuk_offe 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Finally something decent coming out of my country!

[–]WeAreLegion1863 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This isn't a good thing. Two wrongs don't make a right, and like someone else commented "it's shitty both ways".

[–]selfsufficientnigga6 points 12 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

It is a good thing because it throws light on how shitty the original for-females one is.

[–]WeAreLegion1863 -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It does but it also shows that guys are just as shitty, and gives them the stance of "well guys are doing it too".

Both apps are bullshit, and I would hate to know what other guys think about a girl I'm seeing. Seriously, I fucking hate everyone involved with both apps.

[–]fuk_offe 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course, but it's the get back, so we can see the incoming rationalization :D

[–]lemesphien1 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the shitstorm is already begun, this is all over the facebook feminist groups loool. theyre trying to get it banned before it even launches

[–]iKill_eu 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Best news I've heard all day

[–]adamwho 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If people are just going for the sex, why not enable them to have the best possible time. People are going to be sharing with their friends anyway and because of that my 20s were really awesome.

[–]TheEveningSnooze -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If people are just going for the sex, I think it would be better if they looked at the back of the wantads or craigslist or hookers R us or something.

[–]jquest23 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What's with all the dv going on ?

[–]lemesphien1 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thought you guys would be interested in knowing that this got posted on /TECH and /Askreddit and both times it made it to the first page with over 100 points and over 80% of people liking it. Both times mods deleted it giving no reason as to why this happened. Power hungry beta mods bypassing reddit upvote system to impose their own feminist agenda. I guess it doesn't matter what the COMMUNITY wants to talk about anymore, as long as one WK mod doesn't like it.

[–]jquest23 -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is an app for woman that lets them rate guys, so others give crap tell em to visit the already in use lulu app. Onlulu.com
