I was the office manwhore in my early 20s.

Dated three girls there, plus the sister of one of them. Ended up marrying one and later divorced her. The corporate parties were a killzone where I would never know when Becky from HR would strike after the 4th glass of prosecco.

It was a lot of fun. I was working in oil and gas which meant lots of macho men, lots of younger, hot girls lusting over the macho dudes and a pretty relaxed and festive atmosphere when we weren't working hard.

I now work in life sciences and its a more even level playground. Both men and women are equally educated, both genders are full of high achivers and career people, BUT, there are a lot more women than men in some areas. Conferences and events can be fun, although women are not as aggressive.

Any industry with high potential earners will do the job. Even more if you are sent as an expat to another country where expats and locals work together.

My company has something like 10 married couples in it and a bunch more that are dating currently.

I think as long as your day to day duties arent impacted by it then go nuts.

Although I've never dated a coworker personally, I saw a lot of it when I was in the service industry and when I was teaching. In the service industry everyone is fucking everyone and literally no one cares. It's pretty much expected, and if you do get fired for fucking around with a coworker (unlikely; I never saw it happen) you can walk down the street and get a job at another restaurant.

When I was teaching, there were several couples at my school. Some we're dating/married already and just happened to get jobs at the same school, but some actually met in the workplace. Teaching is kind of a unique situation because while you do have colleagues, you're mostly alone in your classroom with your students all day. It's not like an office job where your job has you interacting with and relying on your coworkers all the time. So I think it's easier in some ways to date a fellow teacher than a coworker in other environments. If you break up, you probably won't have to see much of that person anymore, unless you're on a committee or something together.

I’ll shit where I eat if the food is good and the bathroom is clean enough.

It becomes less appetizing as you age and your career progresses, though.

It’s one thing to slut it up working at a bar or restaurant but now I work for a big ass and very progressive Tech company and last thing I want is to get dragged into HR because I burnt too many bridges.

Kinda a moot point now that I work from home, I only go into the office 4 times a month.

Never believed in work relationships. It’s easy enough to meet women outside work so I keep that life separate despite having a woman ask me out or make a move on me maybe once every month or so.

Did comepltely fall for a girl at work that made me break the rule. We dated very briefly and it didn’t work out. Tbh in my opinion it’s more awkward seeing someone in the office you’re currently dating than someone you’ve been broken up with. Doubt I’ll dip my toes in that water again, but flirting around is always fun

Man, why would you do that? I haven't been in the professional world for long, but I've seen what happens when you date someone you live with.

Young relationships are volatile. It's usually fine, and not necessarily bad, but when you both work together, and have to keep working together regardless of your personal relationship, that volatility makes for a huge risk.

I had been dating my partner for a year when they decided to rush my fraternity. Even after a year of stability, I was asked to give a plan for what would happen if we broke up.

I work in a pretty male dominated place, the few women are taken, and all the single guys are into the only single girl, who was recently hired. I somehow beat them all to the punch and we kept our thing totally secret because we didn’t want to cause hard feelings or awkwardness at work or change the dynamic. We were also breaking a rule against ‘unsanctioned’ relationships, and I was technically in a supervisory role to her. Anyway, things didn’t work out, and it was incredibly awkward for me for a while afterwards. It took me a long time to get over her, and seeing her every day, as well as seeing all the other guys continue to hit on her, was pretty painful for me. It was very hard to act like nothing was going on and I ended up basically being unable to socialize in the normal work circles. I was particularly jealous/suspicious of her friendship with one other guy at work, which was pretty pathetic. It’s been many months since then and things are only now getting back to normal for me.

I want to say that I wouldn’t do it again. I tend to fall hard for those I fall for, and not being able to just cut her out of my life (actually I worked very close with her, so I saw her all the time) made it almost impossible for me to move on. I was even sleeping with other people outside of work, and it still didn’t help.

Still, I don’t get many chances, so if the opportunity presented itself I would probably take it. Definitely wouldn’t actively pursue a coworker though (although a cute contractor did catch my eye recently..)
