There was a post by /u/no_face just yesterday about the perils of being a "high value beta". I am certain that the problem he describes (being a high value man who still has poor success with women) is related to this law.

One of the insidious dangers of going into Monk Mode is that you can end up using it as an excuse to delay confronting your insecurities and approach anxiety around socializing, particularly with women.

"I'll just wait until I'm buff, then it'll be easy" or "I'll just wait until I'm pulling more money, then people will really respect me." These are just excuses to avoid confronting your fear. You should be socializing as often as your Monk schedule will allow. And if it doesn't, then dial back your Monk Mode and make time for it. Interacting with other people will be the cornerstone of your relationships for the rest of your life, and like anything else it takes practice.

Monk Mode isn't a fortress. It's a turbo-charged engine.

This is one of the biggest laws I have transgressed. It has nothing to do with women, but in your circulation in your workplace and/or other social circles. You cannot achieve power in isolation, and in fact you can lose it.

I'm guilty of this. I have stopped pursuing women and friendships. Depression fades into a calm acceptance as life becomes a solitary routine of familiar activities. There is no comfort from the gods, or women, or dreams, or any other youthful delusion. Existence becomes a novelty. It is an amusing thing without any purpose to it.

I've cast away everything in the name of truth to find my home barren. Without our human pursuits, we become as the universe is: indifferent, mechanical, and empty.

There is a serenity to it, but despite the pointless and fleeting nature of social activity, I miss the comradery at times.

"Monk mode", MGTOW, and "opting out" are nothing more than castles built on sand. Alternate and propped-up success. "Hey don't worry...you don't have to learn how to be successful with women...just go monk mode and you can STILL feel good about yourself!"

I've been arguing against "monk mode" for about 2 years here on /r/theredpill. Every single time I'm downvoted for it by aggressive newbies who have come here hoping to find camaraderie among men in order to justify not having to hangout or deal with women anymore.

"Why you waste so much time just for one night of sex? This report sounds like OP is obsessed with pussy...just go monk!". Practically all the veterans agree: It's dangerous. It's an easy way out. It's a way for men to redefine success with women as "not having to deal with women".

That is not success. Escaping the shit women throw at you by MGTOW isn't overcoming it or mastering the sexual marketplace. At best it's rejecting the current iteration of the sexual marketplace (hey I don't like it either) and at worst it's simply failing to be successful.

Now, sometimes "monk mode" is temporary because you're broke and need to earn $ or you're a student and there's finals coming up. Or maybe you're fat and need 3 months to workout. Fair enough and understandable. But when it's derived from this mindset of "going out and hitting on chicks at that party is being a SLAVE TO PUSSY! Why don't my buddies just chill in my basement with me, smoke weed, play xbox and chill! That's bros, man! Don't be a slave to pussy!"...then that's just a lame excuse.

Bottomline is that /r/theredpill and the 48 laws of power are about mastering interactions with women (and people in general). They're not about solving the numerous problems with women (and people) by withdrawing from any interaction completely and/or just teaming up with men.

TL'DR Don't rationalize a refusal to participate in the sexual marketplace as an alternate form of success. It is what it is: just neutral non-players on the sidelines of life.

If one must isolate themselves, do it in order to accomplish something, not protect yourself. It's one thing to isolate yourself because you need the time and space to, say, workout or study or meditate on what's going on in your head. The point is that the isolation is limited to accomplishing something, then moving on. It's when you use it to defend yourself from something that it becomes a problem. Those same threats will be there once your fortress is opened... and it will open.

Up until fairly recently, China was in near complete isolation since the Ming dynasty. They were closed off to a lot of trade and development for centuries. Once they opened the doors again, they realized they had fallen far behind the rest of the world. And while China managed to find their way back to the top, other countries such as those in the middle east are discovering that it's not so easy to come out of isolation when the rest of the world has left you behind. They tend to be stuck in the past remembering a time when they were the leaders in mathematics, medicine, and trade, but fail to adapt to new technologies and ways of thinking.

Economics teaches this as well that no country will prosper to it's fullest extent without international trade. While a single country may be best suited in every field, it won't have the manpower to excel in every field to its maximum potential. Better to focus on production that will give you the most return and have less suited countries focus on production of lesser goods.

A stupid example, but when I was a kid playing Age of Empires I was isolating myself, I was afraid to lose control of my units in mulptiple attacks in different areas of the map. No wonder why I was losing.
