Hypothesis: There is no male/female relationship which truly lacks gender roles.

Case study: We have an example of a relationship with no discernable gender roles. However, one day, an intruder comes into this couple's home. The man due to being physically stronger than his wife has a greater probability (between 60-70%) of stepping in and protecting his wife from the intruder as opposed to vice versa.

Question: Does this constitute as a "gender role" in the relationship? Why or why not?
