Americans, do you consider police brutality/criminal justice to be a men's rights issue?

It's not a racial issue. Native Americans, hispanics, and whites can all be victims of police brutality. If anything, natives are the most likely to be killed by police. This is a criminal justice issue caused by police unions who lobby for government protection and make it harder to fire bad cops. I don't consider it a men's rights issue because men are more likely to commit VIOLENT crime and resist arrest which will put them at odds with police.

Nope the ratio of men to women being shot or arrested is not a men's rights issue because men are more likely to commit crimes and we're more likely to be violent, which explains increased arrest rates. That just the way it is.

The issue is with sentencing - women get lighter sentences on average for the same crime. But even then, is that controlled for prior offences, showing remorse, etc? A lot goes into sentencing.

As far as the non-white issue goes, blacks commit more crimes per capita in the US, according to FBI statistics. This happens for a lot of reasons as well.

I think the real rights issue here is why are certain people... who are let us say on the darker end of the ah, moral spectrum... being increasingly enabled to run rampant and threaten the lives and safety of our law enforcement officers?

I for one, enjoy living in a peaceful, subdued neighborhood where no one is hanging out on stoops and in front of convenience stores, catcalling women, harassing passersby for pocket change, filling the air with the armpit stench of cannabis sativa, and so on.

If you do not want to be shot, then stop violating the law, harassing innocent people, and taking a confrontational attitude when confronted by the police over your misdeeds. Civilized people understand all this.

No, it's a human rights issues with different facets involving race, gender & gender identity (with respect to transfolk), sexuality, classism and nationality.

Like most big issues, it's a hydra with multiple heads to be tackled.

No. Men are more likely to commit crimes, and minority/non-white men are the most likely to commit crimes. Sentencing disparities between men and women, and between white men and minority men should be addressed, but otherwise I expect people to be held accountable for their decisions.

its a racial issue, not a "mens" issue. Black men commit an overwhelming amount of the violent and opportunistic crime in the US per capita and are thus subject to more police scrutiny and "brutality". Back men run and resist more as well

women dont commit crime at the level of men to end up in the situation to be brutalized by police
