I am completely baffled that you think women are the motivators behind circumcision. I've never met a woman who has cared (unless she's from a place where circumcision is hugely the norm, like certain parts of the US or in South Korea for example), and in that case it's just a matter of unfamiliarity with foreskin. Most women grow out of the unbearable "ew" phase by their mid-twenties, latest.

I've had major arguments with boyfriends because I couldn't understand why they were so pro-circumcision. It matters way more to men what their dick looks like, and I believe it often comes from a place of, "I want my son to be sexually successful," and they connect circumcision with more sexual success.

Why do you think it's the women circumcising their sons and not the men? That shit was obviously a male invention, propagated by men, "researched" by men, recommended by male doctors, covered by insurance by male decision-makers. The rest is just word of mouth. It was adopted in the US because a man at some point popularized it.

Men already DO care about rape and sexual assault. Circumcision is not in the legal definition of rape or assault.

A growing number of civilized countries already banned it or plan on banning it and none of the white women care, the only reason it is legal in Germany for example is because the muslims and jews cried Nazi as soon as we tried and our politicians are spineless when it comes to this. Circumcision outside of medical necessity is entirely cultural anyway and should be done away with - the only western country that routinely does it for (misguided and outdated) secular reasons is the US...

Though I would like to see your proof that white women in the US are the driving force behind this - any time this discussion comes up on reddit, there are a bunch of men defending it because I guess their penis is a sensitive issue...

My dad wasn't circumcised until he was 18.

So he had to deal with the recovery in his adult life.

He decided to get both my brothers circumcised.

Circumcision is the norm, and I find more uncircumcised men complaining about this than not. I think they feel like outsiders.

Women don't respect male consent in general. They will simply do it because they know that you, as a man, will probably not tell or be taken seriously if she does something forcefully sexual on you anyways. At least when a woman cries rape, assault she's taken somewhat seriously.

I actually agree with you on this topic. Child circumcision done without adequate medical cause is nothing short of mutilation. I'm amazed that more doctors don't refuse to perform the surgery in the first place. Should we not care about their problems, too? They're even more culpable than the parents, IMO.

I do think that prevailing attitudes about circumcision influence parental decisions on the topic. I think men are probably more concerned about their sons' future sexual success than women, while women may be more concerned about their sons feeling "different" or being mocked. If this is the point you're trying to make, you may want to flesh it out more.

The preference itself exists due to the fact that circumcision is considered the norm in the US, not because women are eeeeeeevil. As circumcision falls in popularity (as we can see in the western states), the preference should also decrease.

Your comparison to rape and sexual assault is tenuous at best and it only makes you sound bitter. While I understand your frustrations and the point you're trying to make, parental consent to a medical procedure and individual consent to sex are entirely different issues.
