Q4RP I've been watching The Handmaid's Tale and it got me thinking about whether this is a future a lot of TRPers might think is better than what we seem to be heading towards now.

I haven't read the book, so this is purely based on the first few episodes on Hulu.

Basically in this dystopian future, women have no property rights, no right to earn their own money and no rights about whether they have babies or not. They have no choice about who they have sex with - they are assigned to a man who attempts to regularly impregnate them. Sex for a woman's pleasure (not sure if the men have sex outside of this arrangement either for their own pleasure) doesn't seem to be acceptable. Women having their own mind is impossible because they can't be trusted. The value of a woman is as breeding stock, house maid and obedient wife and that's about it.

I'm not saying all RPers would like this and obviously it's an extreme story that is unlikely to line up with your views perfectly, but there are some here that blame women for the decline of birth rates, the decline of morality in society and of course, for making men unhappy and unfulfilled.

So, is a future where women have no real influence on law, no reproductive choices of their own and no right to express themselves (because they're deceitful, disloyal hypergamists if given no moral rules by men) one you would prefer over what you see the corruption of feminism achieving?

Maybe outline what kind of future you would like to see and the role of women in it.
