If there is one thing I've learned from reading TRP/MRP/PPD it is that men want to be desired for WHO THEY ARE just they way that women are.

Re:sex bots. Men don't have sex just for the experience but for validation as well. So sex bots won't replace real-life partners. Plus I think there are subtle things that sexbots won't be able to replicate physically. Body smell, bodily fluids, etc. IMO those things matter more than people seem to think.

I think the game-changer will be the medical possibilities that will come with future technology. Thinking of nanobots for example. Or changes of the metabolic system. And stuff I have no idea about.

Imagine you could heal clinical depression and personality disorders. Or change the metabolism in a way that it idly burns a lot of calories. Obesity crisis solved. Or changes on a DNA level to babies that makes every man grow to be 6ft tall. No skin problems anymore.

I am thinking of stuff that would surpass the possibilities of cosmetic surgery by far.

Everybody would be physically attractive and healthy. I think this would completely change the dating market and everybody would be happy.

I don't think I'd ever want to fuck a sexbot, as a man. Maybe a very realistic one like the ones in West World, but honestly, it would be odd and dehumanized for me. I think it's a universal that most men would prefer just regular sex with a woman.

The fact that this has become a massive challenge or problem to solve is a sad state of affairs. Countering social engineering that has made things as they are would go farther in solving PPD problems than all these kooky Silicon Valley sperg solutions. These are very much a "first world problem" to say the least.

When the RP/MGTOW/incel guys here are being honest, they will admit that the sex is less important than the social validation sex gets them from other men. They think sex = manhood and getting more sex makes them more of a man, that's the part you have to fix.

One of the main issues with discussions like this is people always ask if they can do something, but rarely ask if they should.

VR's issues with adoption early on aside, assume it grows in influence and technology. Assume it becomes cheap enough for people to gain easy access and issues with sickness are reduced by some measure. Is encouraging the unfortunate to lose themselves in a virtual world helping them? Would it be appropriate to push people away from a connection to reality?

Sexbots/AI

Again, assuming all goes well in time and things develop into the consumer market. Human imagination has tread and retread the idea of humanity making deep use of mechanical subordinates and tampering with created intelligence. Never goes well. If nothing else, the notion of an intelligent subordinate 'race' is uncomfortable to consider on several levels. Especially one made exclusively or in significant part for sexual gratification. Though I suppose it depends what you would consider an AI. A feeling, thinking intelligence that learns? Not very far away from us in some respects. It opens up a lot of troublesome doors.

Cosmetic Tech

I actually ran across an interesting web comic not long ago that is about two characters in a world where body alteration is both accepted and easy. Only one of the characters has a rare genetic incapability to handle modification. It wasn't dystopian by any stretch, but it explored how their relationship dealt with it in the early story arc.

It got me thinking about how it doesn't really matter how things go when it comes to this sort of technology. People's tastes will always change. Will shift and move with, even ahead of technology. Getting better at changing who we are on the outside won't necessarily fix that.

Transportation

This is one of the few things on here I wholeheartedly support. But not for any reason having to do with the concept of SMV and so forth. It's because quick, cheap transportation around ones' country promotes a lot of positive real world economic benefits an frees up people in a way that encourages them to find what they need in whatever part of the country most appeals. Any other benefits are icing to the cake that matters more.

Personally, I think any discussion of technology should have the 'why' as strongly explored as the 'if'.

The sexbot/VR thing won't work because incels and other such men feel left out and like they're not "real men" because they don't have sex or date. As long as that pressure exists people won't be satisfied by VR/Sexbots. Quite the opposite, those things will keep people from trying and help people feel content with their situation most of the times but in the end that'll just keep those people incels for longer, increasing their overall frustration.

I also don't see how transportation is going to be revolutionized in the foreseeable future (outside of relying on different fuels and becoming more efficient). And cosmetic tech will just raise the bar. People will probably get pickier about new stuff.
