People who go through relationships like toilet paper are more likely to continue to do so when things get rocky. Relationships, people, sex and all that become things that are easily replaced, so why put in the effort to fix things when they get strained.

I don't think this is the case for an n=1 person if he or she is in love with the other person and he or she is not obsessed with sex. N=2 from someone who cheated on their first person is more likely to cheat than an in-love n=1.

I don't buy into the whole "pair bonding" thing but I will say, having an n-count of 1, it's powerful knowing you've only been penetrated by one person. Giving that up would be an enormous step and something I'd know I could never undo. Wondering what else is out there/curiosity don't have a strong enough pull for me to give that up.

I think it depends on the person and their circumstances (i.e. whether the relationship was satisfying anyway) to be honest. While people like those you describe certainly exist, others bond strongly enough to the person they have their first sexual experiences with that the desire to pursue anyone else dies.

Personally, I was pretty inexperienced when I met my partner and bonded to him very strongly to the point that I don't want to have sex with anyone but him, and I'd worry that if we broke up (something that I can't imagine myself ever initiating) that I'd constantly compare future relationships to him and never be fully satisfied. So, while I can sort of see your logic, I'd question whether it's widely applicable or just relevant to one particular set of people.

Here's something that looks at a far bigger sample and is a lot less likely to be pure fiction and/or biased:

Women with 10 or more partners were the most likely to divorce, but this only became true in recent years;

Women with 3-9 partners were less likely to divorce than women with 2 partners; and,

Women with 0-1 partners were the least likely to divorce.

General trend, as of more recent times (2000s), is more partners = higher chance of divorce in period 5 years after marriage

Its interesting to me why it spikes at n=2. Sample size is large enough to avoid potential statistical distortions.

Interestingly, this particular comment they made regarding women only:

Big flaw here is counting virginity (vaginal) intercourse as n-count. Technically, he/she could have engaged in oral sex, but still be a virgin.

You could have discovered "what's out there" by just "hand work" - that wouldn't even count as a "partner" under CDC guidelines.

Virgin hunting is dangerous, but not for the reason you're thinking. She may very well love you for the rest of your life. She may just as easily sleep with all of your friends. How will you ever know without previous sexual behavior to evaluate?

They're not necessarily more prone to cheating, you're just leaving yourself completely blind to how prone or not prone she is.

I don't think it applies to women much. Men yes but men can work on their principles and virtues to overcome the desire to cheat. For me at this point in my life and relationship cheating on her would be cheating on myself, I value my honor and loyalism. My personal philosophy is based in virtue ethics completely
