I came of age with classic rap, I was into KRS One, Diggable Planets, some other people. I saw a guy on NPR tiny desk concerts Anderson Paak recently I thought he was good. Don't mind Drake but I am super out of it when it comes to whatever is cutting edge in rap now.

I am old school and like Schooly Dee and old Public Enemy. When the Bare Naked Ladies covered "Fight the Powers" that was the shit: a bunch of fat, white boys co-opting black culture to make a universal statement.

My affection for Will Smith is inversely proportionate to his age. To the exent that he tried to get serious his music fumbled. He is at his best with whimsical, party music.

I'm ten years over the stated threshold. Given that I was a nightclub DJ for a decade in my youth, it's safe to say I have a deep love for both. Those are definitely my all-time fave genres.

Most of my music listening these days consists of DJ mixes streamed from Soundcloud, with some breaks for other genres to mix things up, and if I go out these days, it's usually to hear a friend DJ an underground...

And Beastie Boys would be one of my first picks in the greatest-musical-acts-of-all-time category.
