Recently someone posted why the fish/ fisherman analogy is flawed. They gave many strong reasons such as women unlike fish don't want to be caught. Now that is good debating!!

All jokes aside so many people become so emotionally invested in the wording they either can't or refuse to see the bigger picture. Here is, I hope, an easier to understand example.

I'm a young man and I want to be a professional QB in the NFL and I can ask one of these two men for advice. The first is Tom Brady, a 4 time super bowl champion and 3 time super bowl MVP. Or Skip Bayless, a respected sports media personality. Both Skip and Tom want this young man to achieve his goal and will give them the best advice they can, but whose advice is more valuable. Obviously it is Tom Brady's. Skip Bayless has been a member of the sports media for over 25 years. He has arguably consumed more sports media then Brady and has maybe even seen more games then Brady has. He has commented and gave his opinions on more games than Tom Brady has started in. But the difference is, he has never been on the field. He doesn't know what it takes to bring your team back in the fourth quarter. He doesn't have the reflexes to make the right split second decision in the moment. Anyone can look at an action after the outcome has been decided and say, "any idiot should have known that would have been a success/failure." Tom Brady not only has the experience he can also walk you through the process of why things worked or failed. Skip can tell you that you need to find the open man against the defense, but Brady can tell you how to exactly find the open man against many different types of defenses.

Now lets unpack the analogy a bit. The average heterosexual woman is Skip Bayless. The average heterosexual male is Tom Brady. The young man with dreams to be an NFL starter is a man who needs help with women. The average women might have the best of intentions when giving advice, but few have first hand experience leading a date, dealing with many women or creating what women call a spark or connection. That is why if given an option, it is usually ill advised to ask a woman for dating advice over a man.
