So far in this sub, I have seen a few theoretical causes, of why feminism was created, or how it arose, with I disagree with.

  1. Feminism is caused by wealth and resources: No concrete trend for this. The Asian countries, and specifically the wealthy ones did not develop a prominent feminist movement despite economic success and resources. Same goes for the Middle Eastern countries.

  2. Feminism is caused by big government: Not true because China and Russia with the soviet union did not develop a feminist movement. Japan has had a small one, but it's nothing compared to the US or the nordic countries.

My view is that, feminism is caused by Entitlement and the pursuit of freedom.

Ultimately, one does not seek activism for privileges or rights unless they believe they have the worthiness to do so. It is not an internal, universal quest built into all humans. For example, if one does not have the right to vote, and you don't care about voting, you aren't going to care much to fight for the right to vote.

America, and other nordic countries, and some in Europe, where a feminist movement is strongest correlate positively with countries that have a culture that emphasizes personal liberty and freedom. Here in the US, we believe that freedom is the most important attribute of being American. So as a result, people fight for freedoms.

Conversely, in countries where feminism is not present or not strong, there is a lack of pursuit of personal freedom. China has no democratic voting process, and many restrictions on personal freedoms.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, when I say feminism, this more refers to the aspects of feminism that this sub discusses and TRP discusses, such as fat-acceptance, female promiscuity, consent-rape laws, etc.

Whether or not a woman is allowed to fire machine guns isn't really the focus here.
